Love Island USA season 6 aired its latest episode on Friday, June 28. The arrival of three new 'bombshells' in the villa, Cassidy Launado, Kenny Rodriguez, and Nigel Okafor, caused concern among current islanders about their connections.
Episode 16 featured a recoupling that changed the couples' relationship dynamics and an elimination that left the islanders in tears. The male cast members participated in an exciting challenge called Flex Appeal, which made several contestants reconsider their connections. Miguel forged a bond with Nicole, but when he saw her fluctuating between him and her partner, Kendall, he chose to pursue Leah instead.
Leah, having drifted apart from her partner, Connor, coupled up with Miguel at the recoupling, marking the end of Connor's journey on Love Island USA season 6.
Connor was 'dumped' from the villa in episode 16 of Love Island USA season 6
Connor Newsum began his journey on Love Island USA as JaNa's partner. JaNa broke up with her then-partner, Coye Simmons, because she felt he was nonchalant. While she valued communication, she felt she always had to take the initiative to start a conversation. Frustrated by his demeanor, she chose to couple up with Connor, leading to Coye's elimination.
At the same time, Leah and Rob were separated when 'bombshell' Andrea Carmona chose Rob as her partner, rendering Leah single. Right when Leah became single, Connor decided to pursue her, stating he held back since she was with Rob, leaving JaNa feeling blindsided and betrayed.
Leah reciprocated Connor's feelings and approved of his advances. They shared a romantic kiss at the dock and stuck to their decision to choose each other. At the next recoupling, he chose Leah over JaNa and said, "It wasn't a hard decision to make."
What followed was Andrea's dramatic elimination, which stirred emotions in the villa. Once Rob was single again, Leah approached him and confessed that she still fancied him. However, Rob felt apprehensive about reconnecting with Leah.
Once her feelings for Rob were rekindled, Leah began feeling unsure about Connor. She realized she did not have any romantic feelings for him anymore. The other Love Island USA cast members discussed Leah's change of mind and knew Connor was just her "rebound."
"He's so nice and he's the guy that I should want but it's like I need a little bit of like you're going to send me to the psych ward and it's just not giving that," said Leah.
Leah started distancing herself from Connor, while the latter remained hopeful. However, in episode 15 of Love Island USA, Leah opened up about her feelings for Connor and said that whatever they had was starting to "feel wrong."
"I think, like, you've got me at, like, a very vulnerable time, and I think, like, it felt really right in the moment, and then, like, it slowly started feeling, like, wrong. It's not you, it's me. I'm the problem," she confessed.
In episode 16, Miguel informed Connor that he would pursue Leah because he was infatuated with her. After the Flex Appeal challenge, Leah and Miguel had a private conversation, where the latter admitted that she had his attention. Their conversation ended with a kiss, which Connor saw.
"Obviously, it's, like tough to see Leah move on that quick. Kind of makes you question what she was thinking the whole time we were together. It feels like she was lying to me most of the time we were together. But it is what it is," said Connor.
As a result, Connor tried to bond with Cassidy, however, she found a better partner in Rob. During the recoupling that followed later in that episode, Leah chose Miguel over Connor, leading to the latter's elimination.
The islanders bid a tearful goodbye to him. While leaving the villa, Connor reflected on his friendship with Rob and Connor and said he would continue his quest for love.
Love Island USA season 6 airs every day of the week except Wednesdays at 9 pm ET only on Peacock.
