Love & Marriage Detroit season 2 episode 3: Kristina and LaToya’s feud reignites

Love & Marriage Detroit is a reality show that depicts the lives of African American families who are "deeply related to Detroit" and have moved to the city for better lives. Its season 2 episode 3 premiered on September 21, 2024 and reignited the feud between Kristina Smith and LaToya Thompson.

Anthony Thompson and Brandon Smith tried to get their wives together and fix their bond. Kristina was ready to fix things, however, LaToya was cemented on her words and did not pull back.

Titled All About the Opps, the synopsis for episode 3 read:

"Kristina reaches out to Brandon’s mother about their marital issues and Anthony tries to bring peace between LaToya and Kristina. LaToya also helps Kolby with her disappointment after having a girl and the Dobines try to find time to date each other."

Love & Marriage Detroit episode 3: Kristina talks about the incident that led to a "disconnect" with LaToya

Love & Marriage Detroit season 2 episode 3 focused on Kristina and LaToya trying to reconcile their relationship. At the end of the episode, the Thompsons and the Smiths went to a knocker ball together and tried to clear the tension between the two couples.

Brandon and Anthony already had shaken hands and "made a truce". They hoped their wives would also follow in their footsteps and fix their mess.

Brandon asked Kristina and LaToya if they had any common ground that they could use to rebuild their bond and "move forward". Kristina took the first step and expressed that her side of the "disconnect" came when she and her husband were called fake, at the skating ring previously on the show.

"I think for me... the disconnect was after the whole calling us out as fake," Kristina mentioned.

Kristina told LaToya that she needed to understand that the "fake" statement toward them felt like a jab at her. However, LaToya was not ready to take her words back and implied that she was just speaking the truth.

"We can go back and fourth about it all day. It is what it is," LaToya responded.

Kristina then went into detail and brought up LaToya's comments after the skating ring incident. Love & Marriage Detroit star claimed that after leaving the skating ring, LaToya went to a birthday party and accused her of being manipulative. However, LaToya replied that she couldn't recall saying any of those things about her. In her confessional with Brandon, Kristina reacted:

"I think all that knocker ball gave LaToya amnesia. Because all of a sudden she doesn't remember anyyyy thing that she said"

Kristina further told LaToya that they couldn't come to an agreement on the topic. However, the Love & Marriage Detroit star added that LaToya brought Kimberly Reese to their dinner and she was saying the same things that LaToya did.

"We clearly can't ever come to common ground about it. But when we had dinner and you brought Kimberly with you, Kimberly said the same exact verbiage"

Quoting Kimberly's words, Kristina said:

"Kristina is manipulative... Kristina is conniving."

LaToya claimed that they weren't the only ones who said those things about her. She added that those statements came from multiple people. Brandon chimed in and asked if several people were bad-mouthing Kristina, then why didn't anyone say what she did wrong.

Then, LaToya responded:

"Let's talk about history and your reputation in Detroit. What you are known for, one is... yes, manipulation. That's what people have said about you."

Kristina wasn't satisfied with LaToya's answer and further asked who were the people who were saying critical things about her. However, the latter didn't have any name to drop.
