Love Village season 2 episode 3 recap: Akipon and Chii get closer while Ayakan rejects Manhattan’s advances

The coveted Japanese dating reality show Love Village is back with season 2, premiering on November 5. Netflix released 8 episodes together on this day. Episode 2 of Love Village saw Chii writing about her interest in Akipon in her diary. The connection seemed to get even stronger in episode 3.

However, towards the end of the episode, Akipon admitted to not being the person Chii might have been looking for. Episode 3, This is Hopeless, also documented Gitarin discovering that his crush, Chii, had feelings for Akipon.

Tamifull also went ahead and talked to her crush Captain, and realized that their views about marriage didn't align as much. Manhattan, the oldest member of the lot didn't mind dating Ayakan, the youngest member in the house. However, she turned his advances down, saying he reminded her of her parents.

Akipon and Chii's romance in Love Village season 2 episode 3

Akipon and Chii had been getting to know each other since episode 2, where they had talked in detail about their careers and Akipon's body count. By the end of the episode, Chii even wrote in her diary that she had started to fall for him.

In episode 3, Chii watched Akipon give a haircut to Manhattan. When she returned the overalls she had borrowed from him, she said she left some eye patches for him to use in its pockets. He found the eye patches but also found some handwritten letters. In them, Chii wrote:

"Thank you for letting me see your focused expression while working. Thank you for not laughing when you saw me with glasses and no makeup. Thank you for making each day fun for me".

Later in the Love Village episode, she summoned him for a chat. She told him about her past relationship and how her partner kept cheating on her with other ladies. She said she endured it because she didn't want to leave him.

Akipon said he related to it because he too endured the pains his ex-wife caused him just because he didn't want to leave her. By the end of the episode, the two shared an intimate moment as they sat next to each other, cuddling and stroking an animal.

Here, Gitarin discovered that his crush Chii was more interested in Akipon. However, Akipon took to a Love Village confessional and said that getting to know Chii better had made him realize that he probably wasn't the one Chii was looking for.

Ayakan rejects Manhattan's advances in Love Village season 2 episode 3

When the cast members sat down to have lunch on episode 3 of the show, they didn't have anything but curry to eat. Someone pitched the idea of adding some leaves from the garden to make it tastier. Manhattan volunteered and said he would pick them up, and Ayakan said she would join him.

While picking leaves, Manhattan realized that he might be okay with dating a younger woman like Ayakan as he thought she was cute. He sat next to her at their next get-together around the table.

He told her that in case he felt cold, he would gesture to her by giving her shoulder a nudge. But, she dismissed the idea, saying she wasn't comfortable with physical touch. Later in the episode, when Manhattan summoned Ayakan for a chat and asked her what she thought about marriage, she didn't say much.

She then told him it was nice talking to him because he reminded her of her parents, signaling she wasn't interested in him. She said:

"So yesterday, when I saw you and Sen-ne's backs, it really reminded me of my parents back home".

The episode also saw Gitarin discovering hair removal and giving it a try. Tamifull also acted upon her crush on Captain and chatted with him privately. She asked him about his views on marriage. He said he wasn't looking to get married as keenly. This made Tamifull say in a Love Village confessional that maybe there was a long way to go between her and Captain.
