Married to Medicine season 11, episode 8, titled Baby Birkin, aired on January 19, 2025, and focused on ongoing financial issues from the Med Gala and the introduction of a new couple, Mimi and Steve. The episode also included Sweet Tea hosting a speed-dating event, and addressing her differences with Heavenly.
Dr. Jackie, Dr. Heavenly, Dr. Simone, and Quad discussed the shortfall in donations from the Med Gala, revealing a gap of $46,000, which Phaedra had previously stated she would cover.
However, in this episode, the group discussed how the promised cheque was yet to be received, with Quad pointing out the need for accountability to ensure all payments were completed. Meanwhile, Heavenly shared an email from a donor requesting to withdraw his $4,000 auction contribution, which had been tied to a date with Phaedra.
Mimi and Steve were introduced during the group dinner, where they shared details about their relationship and family. Steve, a former NFL player, explained how their relationship began. Dr. Simone also shared insights about her marriage and invited the group on an upcoming vacation in Married to Medicine.
The ladies discuss Med Gala donations in Married to Medicine
Dr. Jackie, Dr. Heavenly, Dr. Simone, and Quad gathered to go over the funds raised at the Med Gala.
“We collected about $54,993.37,” Jackie shared.
This fell short of the $100,000 cheque they promised. Heavenly expressed concern, saying, “we don’t wanna look bad.” The group highlighted that Phaedra had promised to cover the $46,000 gap during the previous episode but had not yet provided the cheque. In a confessional, Quad said,
“We want to make sure every dime is accounted for, and all the bills are paid.”
Heavenly added that she received an email from a donor who wanted to withdraw his $4,000 contribution. The donor, a former boyfriend of Phaedra, had bid for a date with her during the auction. Jackie and Heavenly expressed frustration over the situation, with Quad noting that Phaedra owed a total of $51,169.
Jackie stated that while Phaedra appears on various TV shows, she still needs to follow through on her promises. The group left the discussion unresolved, raising questions about how they will address the shortfall.
Mimi and Steve’s introduction in Married to Medicine
During the dinner, viewers were introduced to Mimi and Steve, who shared details about their relationship in Married to Medicine. Steve explained that they met while living in the same apartment building.
“Our windows looked into each other’s windows,” he said.
Mimi added that they began dating after Steve retired from the NFL, and have now been together for almost 10 years. The couple revealed they have two children, a daughter and a son. In a confessional, Mimi said Steve “checked off everything” on her list of qualities she was looking for in a partner.
Dr. Simone reflected on her 28-year marriage, noting that they might not have made it without the support of their "circle of friends." She shared plans for an upcoming vacation, inviting the group to join them.
“We wanted to make sure that we had some sunshine, some water, some beach, and we could have a good time,” she said in a confessional.
The group expressed interest in the idea, setting the stage for their next vacation together.
