Five home cooks will receive aprons and move toward the trophy, winning a prize of $250,000 and the title of MasterChef champion.

Fox describes the show as:

It continues:

"The home cooks will face a multitude of cooking trials, including a restaurant takeover challenge, a series of iconic Mystery Box challenges, cooking a meal at the Major League Soccer LAFC stadium, and the fan-favorite Tag Team event, where they must create a Michelin-star quality three-course meal! Only one home cook will win it all and take home the cash prize of $250,000 and the title of America’s MasterChef."

MasterChef season 14 premiere recap: More details explored

MasterChef season 14 premiere, titled Millennials Auditions, the episode opened with a question:

"Which generation has the best cooks?"

First up were Millenials, who were judged by the guest judge, Priya Krishna, also a Millenial. The first round started with Jeet, 32, an HR specialist from Portland, Oregon.

The dish was Gajar Ka Halwa dumplings in crispy rice paper with carrot halwa and sweet Rabri sauce. Gordon described it as beautiful with oozing confidence and gave a green light to the chef.

Joe too had a positive reaction to the dish and shared:

"I’ve never tasted anything like it."

The next contestant was Lexi, 30, a nail salon owner from Long Island, New York. She described herself as the “Kitchen Witch” and shared that she put her positive and happy energy into her dishes.

Being a vegan, she used substitute chicken meat for her dish. She prepared vegan chicken roulade with spinach and artichoke, fondant potatoes, and vegan mornay. However, the dish failed to make a mark on the judges. Gordon said it tasted weird, whereas Joe liked Lexi but not the taste. After she left, Joe said:

"That’s one of the worst dishes I’ve ever tasted."

Next up was Kamay, 34, an attorney from Washington, DC. She prepared Haitian snapper with jasmine rice and peas, pickled cabbage “Pikliz”, and spicy tomato sauce. Gordon and guest judge Priya loved the taste, with the former commenting that it looked simple yet was cooked beautifully. Aarón too shared his positive thoughts on the dish, saying:

"So delicious and loaded with flavor."

The next contestant on MasterChef was Tori, a high-school English teacher. She prepared Deep-Fried Salmon Croquettes along with Purple Sweet Potato Puree. Aarón didn’t like the puree, whereas Gordon liked the presentation but the croquettes were too dense, sadly, Tori failed to get a yes from the judges.

The next contestant was Si, 30, a biotech manager from California. Si served Banh Xeo Vietnamese crepes with shrimp and pork, fish sauce vinaigrette, fresh herbs, and vegetables. Si managed to get an apron along with a yes, with compliments from Gordon, who loved the presentation, and Priya who said she could eat it daily.

Anna, 37, a tax director from Dallas, Texas, who grew up in Ukraine, was the next contestant. She prepares pan-seared duck breasts with purple potato puree, pickled beets, red wine butter sauce, and Brussels sprouts. Priya said the presentation looked like a high-end restaurant dish. Aarón, along with the other judges liked the presentation and said yes to the dish.

Lastly, Michael, 27, from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, served herb goat cheese ravioli with tomato cream cheese, spinach, roasted red peppers, and basil olive oil. Goron loved the colors on the plate, while Joe appreciated the amount of filling. Priya described it as fresh and bright. Michael also got a yes.

While the premier episode focused on Millenials, the next episode of MasterChef season 14 will feature Baby Boomers.

MasterChef season 14 episode 2 will be released on June 5, 2024, at 8 pm ET on Fox.
