Beast Games season 1 episode 5, released on January 9, saw nine contestants compete for the private island. Esteban, who was among the top four finalists, was given the choice to take $450K and leave the game. He was chosen because, in a previous task, he picked box number 1, and the rules stated that if he didn't take the $450K, the player who picked box number 2 would get the chance to choose. Contemplating if he should be taking the money, Esteban said:
"I think my family and my girlfriend would kill me if I didn't take this."
Esteban took the deal and left the fight for his own private island. With that, he prevented other players from taking the money.
As the episode went on, only two players remained, and the latest installment ended on a cliffhanger without announcing the winner of the $1.8 million private island.
Esteban's choice to go with $450K to leave Beast Games in episode 5
Mr. Beast took the remaining four contestants — Harrison, Mia, Brennan, and Esteban — to a pirate ship. There, he pointed out other smaller ships in the vicinity and said they belonged to one player each. He also showed them the canons they would be firing from and explained that the player whose ship sank would be eliminated.

He said he wanted to offer them something before they continued with the Beast Games challenge. He then took them to a chest full of $450K gold chips. He told them that he didn't trust their ability to fire canons because they had never done it, so he was giving them the option to get out.
Presenting the $450K worth of gold chips, Mr. Beast said it was 25% of the total amount of the island and that it resembled the 25% chance of their winning it. Explaining why he offered Esteban to go first, Mr. Beast said:
"I'm going to give the offer first to whoever picked the first cube in the last challenge. 457(Esteban) you chose the first cube in the last challenge, do you want to eliminate yourself?"
He added that the move would result in his losing the $5 million and sending him home, ending his journey to win the private island. He said that if Esteban rejected the offer, it would go to another Beast Games player.
Esteban said that every choice he had made led him to this point. He added that he chose box 1 because he was meant to take the $450K. He then announced that he was going to take the money. His fellow Beast Games players congratulated him and hugged him for making the right choice.
In a Beast Games confessional, Esteban said he knew he would take the money the moment he was chosen to be the first one to decide if he needed it. He added that it was too much money to give up on a gamble. He called it the best experience of his life and stated that he was still in shock and was going to pass out.
When Brennan was asked how he felt being one chance away from the opportunity to take the $450K home, he said that if Esteban hadn't taken it, he would've 100% taken it. He said he had no regrets because he felt like it happened because it was meant to happen. He also said that he was happy for his co-player.
