"My heart belongs to somebody else" — The Golden Bachelorette star Joan breaks up with Guy

The Golden Bachelorette aired its finale on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The segment saw Joan Vassos get engaged to Chock after defeating Guy's hopes of marrying her. Before her final suitors joined host Jesse Palmer onstage, viewers were transported to Bora Bora where Joan intended to introduce her family to the male cast members.

After a heartfelt get-together, Joan enjoyed a romantic date with Chock, who professed his love to the golden bachelorette and expressed his eagerness to marry her. Although she did not respond to his confession, she knew her heart was set on him. Consequently, when she met Guy, she informed him of her decision to break up with him. While voicing her feelings, she said:

"I'm here to tell you that my heart belongs to somebody else."

The Golden Bachelorette expressed her feelings to Guy, leaving him heartbroken. She eventually decided not to introduce him to her family, claiming it would hurt him even more to face a breakup after that. Guy had an emotional breakdown after Joan took her leave, revealing how devastated he felt to have lost Joan.

After Joan's family — daughter, Ali, son-in-law, Noah, son Nick, and Nick's fiancee, Brooke — interacted with Chock, Joan realized what her heart wanted. Her son trusted her to pick Chock, stating that the contender was everything that his mother needed. Chock even gifted Joan a heart-shaped lock with a key symbolizing his commitment to her.

When Chock said, "I do love you," Joan chose not to reciprocate it and instead decided to wait until after she met with Guy.

Although it rained the day Guy was supposed to meet the golden bachelorette, he believed it would not stop him from having a "bright day" with his beau. While Guy waited to propose to Joan, the latter had a realization about Chock.

"Hearing that he [Chock] loves me, and he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, I realize that I actually found love...I know what I have to do," she said.

Consequently, she conveyed the news to Guy. She informed him that despite their "great date last week" she was unsure about her feelings for him. Guy listened in disbelief when Joan mentioned that someone else had already made his way into her heart. The Golden Bachelorette star reassured him that she cared about him, however, not in a romantic way.

Since she had already broken up with him she wanted to "spare" him the meeting with her family because she did not want to hurt him further. Joan said, "I'm so sorry" while Guy sobbed in her arms. When he spoke he said that he loved her and was prepared to go the distance with her. He confessed he felt blindsided by her decision.

When Guy asked The Golden Bachelorette star if she would reconsider her decision, she replied:

"I love you, but I love you in a different way."

After bidding farewell to his beau, Guy broke down, unable to hold back his tears. He admitted losing Joan made him feel sick to his stomach. A heartbroken Guy leaned over the balcony and shed tears recalling his breakup

At the Tealight Candle Thunderdome, Guy joined Jesse onstage to reflect on his breakup. He confessed that he could not understand what made Joan sever ties with him.

"I didn't expect it...I thought I was the guy. I was convinced, he explained.

Nonetheless, The Golden Bachelorette star was grateful for being a part of Joan's journey and was glad he could experience "true love" at 66.
