Love After Lockup season 5 introduced viewers to couples where one of them has been in prison. The cast members navigate relationship issues, tackle financial challenges, and plan for the future. One of the couples this season, Kimberly and Joey, has faced ups and downs in their relationship.

In previous episodes, Kim communicated to Joey about his overspending habits and tried to find a solution. However, in the November 29, 2024 episode, Kim shared that Joey was ordered to go to a 90-day rehab facility after failing his drug tests.

During her confession interview, Kim expressed that being a single mom while managing finances and the house was difficult for her. She stated that her "life has been upside down" since Joey left, continuing:

"My life has been upside down for a little while now. I'm lying to my kids. And as crazy as it sounds I don't love him any less."

Love After Lockup season 5 episode 49, titled High Risk Lies, was released exclusively on WeTV on November 29, 2024. The episode synopsis reads:

"Kim questions Joey about his drug test results; Troy clashes with his ex; Melissa uncovers something suspicious about her engagement ring; Rob reunites with his mum, but she explodes; Justine and Michael get concerning news; Daniel gets grilled."

What happened between Kim and Joey on Love After Lockup season 5 episode 49?

In Love After Lockup season 5 episode 4, an emotional Kim shared that Joey had failed his drug test and was sent to a rehab facility for 90 days. Kim stated that it was mandatory for Joey to go or else he was to be sent to prison. With tears in her eyes, she said:

"So, I just took Joey to the courthouse. I will see him in ninety days."

Kim explained how Joey was in a "grey area" and had gotten into trouble. She elaborated:

"For the last three or four weeks like everything went downhill. Joey decided to go to one of these vape shops in town and buy Delta 8 which shows up in your system as THC. So it's not illegal in the state of North Carolina but this is a grey area because he can't have any drugs in his system."

During her confessional interview, she opened up about being a single mom and managing finances. The Love After Lockup star mentioned that she was facing problems handling the finances and "paying for everything." She shared that she wanted to not depend on anyone and take care of her family. Kim continued:

"Being a single mom again is extremely hard. I'm stuck here doing all this stuff by myself. I'm still paying for everything by myself. I'm really tired of being the breadwinner and paying for everything but I'm at a point where I know I need to get back to where I don't need to depend on anybody for anything. That's where I'm headed."

The upcoming episode will provide further details about Kim and Joey's long-distance relationship as Joey goes away for 90 days.
