Love is Blind season 7, which premiered on Netflix on October 2, 2024, features a new group of singles looking to form deep connections beyond physical appearance. Among the couples, Nick Dorka and Hannah Jiles were hoping for a future together but broke up. One year later, during the reunion episode, Hannah claimed that her former fiancé called her a "grenade," sparking controversy.

Though Nick’s defense was unclear during the reunion episode, he denied commenting on the November 7 episode of the Off the Vine podcast.

“I never called her a grenade. I’d never call someone a grenade,” Nick claimed.

Nick Dorka was one of the hopeful singles on Love Is Blind, aiming to find lasting love. He connected with fellow contestant Hannah Jiles, and the two got engaged. However, Hannah ultimately called off the engagement before their wedding, citing concerns about Nick's maturity.

In his appearance on Off the Vine podcast, Nick denied ever calling Hannah "grenade" and added that he would never call someone with such a remark.

Nick admitted to having an off-camera conversation with fellow cast members Ramses Prashad and Garrett Josemans, where he shared feeling slightly underwhelmed by Hannah's appearance. He explained that this exchange, which took place before their trip to Mexico, was just “guy talk” and wasn’t meant to be repeated.

The Love Is Blind contestant added that the conversation happened off-camera, as he didn’t want to bring negativity to the screen, emphasizing that he did not join the show for that reason.

“I would never do that and that’s not why I was there. It’s Love Is Blind. We had a deep connection in the pods [and I was looking to see if] that can continue. … We had such a crazy connection. I’m like, ‘Look, dating hasn’t worked in the past. This could really work,’” Nick said.

Nick defends his "famous" private journal entry

Besides the "grenade" remark, Hannah also claimed on the Love is Blind season 7 reunion episode that she found Nick's private journal at his apartment, in which he had manifested that he would become the most famous person in Love Is Blind's history.

Nick admitted at the reunion that he did write that in his journal and that it was, indeed, his goal. On the Off the Vine podcast, he further dived into the matter and said:

“I do own it; I say on the reunion that I did write it. If you did a lie detector test with everyone on there and they didn’t want to get famous off of it, cool, like, you’re lying. Everyone does.”

Nick clarified that, for him, fame did not mean just gaining followers on social media platforms or chasing clout. He said that he wanted to find "someone on that journey". He wanted the viewers to like them as a couple and "thrive that way".

Nick claimed that he wrote that goal four months before he even knew he would be on the show, so he was taking it "super lightly" and was just messing around. However, he wasn't happy that Hannah went through his belongings without his permission.

“Why are you going through my damn notebook?” the real estate agent quipped to host Bristowe, 39. “That’s not cool. I don’t want a partner [who’s] going to pick up my phone, type in my password and go through it. That’s not who I am. If that is who you are and your friends [are], then that’s OK," he added.

Nick also shared that he had previously discussed the context of his journal entry with Hannah before the Love is Blind reunion and was puzzled as to why she still chose to bring it up during the episode.

Episodes 1-13 of Love is Blind season 7 are available for streaming on Netflix.
