Season 21 of The Bachelorette finally came to an end with its final episode, i.e. episode 10 released on September 3. While the show's final proposal saw Jenn proposing to Devin, her perfect match, the finale told a different story.

After the couple left Hawaii, happily engaged, Devin flipped his demeanor toward Jenn. According to what she said in the finale, he slowly started pulling out, and before long, even broke off their engagement over a phone call.

He even said he didn't love her and that he wasn't very keen about the engagement in the first place, which was contrary to what the viewers and Jenn were led to believe through The Bachelorette. He used to regularly compliment her and tell her he loved her, which is why she ended up proposing to him over Marcus, who was honest about his uncertainties.

Fans of The Bachelorette have taken to X to criticize Devin, just as they booed him when he entered the finale stage. Some are expressing disbelief over his demeanor change, while others are claiming to have seen it coming.

"DEVIN BROKE OFF THE ENGAGEMENT OVER THE PHONE? SAID HE DIDN'T LOVE HER? SAID HE NEVER LOVED HER? Oh Devin it's so over for you we rally at dawn," a fan wrote.

"Ohhh Devin just became Bach nation enemy no.1," wrote another.
"Devin Strader, welcome to the Bachelorette Hall of LAME! Congratulations, punk *ss b*tch!" said a third one.
"Give us a follow up men tell all episode that includes Devin and all the men ripping him to shreds," wrote one fan.

Some The Bachelorette fans recalled how he behaved through the season and said signs of him being flaky were always there. Others said they felt played because they never saw such a thing coming.

"I called from day one Devin was a love bombing liar…Reddit confirmed all my concerns and instincts long ago, but hate that Jenn still fell victim to his bullsh*t," an X user commented.
"Remember when we all couldn’t stand Devin and then that little f*cker grew on us because we hated Sam and Aaron more. We all got played this season," read another comment.
"Devin is every man who love bombs you & then all the sudden you feel the switch flip on a random Tuesday," another fan chimed in.
"Devin denied ever being in love and said he had doubts about getting engaged on the show when the entire time he was acting like JENN wasn’t giving him enough and he was all in???? Men ain’t SH***TTTT," wrote an X user.

Things that Jenn revealed about Devin's flip on The Bachelorette finale

Before The Bachelorette fans saw Jenn proposing to Devin in the finale episode, Jesse said he would not screen it until they heard from Jenn. Fighting her tears, Jenn said that things were "different" after they went home from Hawaii as she felt Devin pulling away. She detailed that he wasn't following through with their plans of moving in together and wasn't calling as much either.

She said it was really hard for her because she felt "secondary" to the other things in his life and added that he broke off their engagement on a phone call before their scheduled meeting.

Devin's reasoning for the breakup was that he didn't love her anymore and that he regretted getting engaged to her. She said she even asked him if he would date her without the pressure of the engagement but he refused even that.

She also noted that he started following Maria from the previous season the day after they broke up. And while she was bummed out after the breakup, he was partying in New York with Jeremy.

Grant Ellis from The Bachelorette season 21 will be The Bachelor in season 29 of the show, which will be premiering in January 2025.
