"A beautiful voice!" — The Voice fans react to Edward Preble's Knockouts performance against Shye and J. Paul

The Voice Season 26 released its latest episode on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. For the second night of the Knockouts, coach Michael Bublé pitted Edward Preble against Shye and J. Paul. The singers had to compete against one another with songs of their choice for a spot in the Playoffs.

While Edward chose to perform Frank Sinatra's Send in the Clowns, Shye sang Katy Perry's The One That Got Away. Meanwhile, J. Paul picked Kiss From a Rose by Seal for his Knockouts performance. Each with their unique vocal abilities, delivered left a lasting impression on the coaches. However, Michael could only advance one from the matchup.

After much deliberation, Michael sent Shye through to the Playoffs, ending Edward and J. Paul's time on the show. However, coach Reba McEntire shocked everyone by stealing Edward, making him the newest member of her team.

Reba stealing Edward surprised The Voice fans and while his vocals impressed some fans, others didn't think he deserved to advance in the competition. Some fans criticized Reba for keeping him on the show.

"Edward sent chills down both arms and up my neck and brought tears. What a beautiful voice!" a fan wrote.
"Michael Buble looks like a proud father watching Edward perform "Send in The Clowns" a fan commented.
"I wanna say edward is a great musician and will be a star in this classic genre era he wanna go in and I will buy Edward album," a netizen tweeted.

Many The Voice fans were impressed with Edward's performance against Shye and J. Paul. They were pleased to see him evade elimination.

"Edward Preble, such a soothing baritone vocal. Liked his phrasing on the lyrics. He was a bit stiff but even that was endearing. Left me smiling," a user reacted.
"That was the classiest thing I've ever seen someone say after being eliminated. Thank GOD they kept him. Edward is my guy," a person commented.
"Congrats,Edward.. TeamReba," another fan wrote.

At the same time, there were many fans of The Voice who were unhappy with the outcome.

"Edward is good but I don’t think he’s The Voice … I think he would be great in Vegas," another person reacted.
"So we missed Reba's talented singer performances to hear this boring as hell Edward that should have never even made it this far? God this show is pissing me off!" one user posted.
"REBAAAAAAAAA REALLY!!!!!???? YOURE NOT SERIOUS!!!!" a netizen commented.

"He's a character" — The Voice coach Reba McEntire on stealing Edward Preble from Michael Bublé

EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson joined Team Bublé as their mentor, and Edward's unique tone captivated her. During rehearsals, she complimented the singer, saying, "He's his own thing." She claimed that Edward had a voice "that kind of only comes around once in a lifetime." Jennifer believed he could become a star with his "classic" and "timeless" attitude.

Edward chose a Frank Sinatra song to familiarize the younger generation with the music of the past. The Voice participant aimed to inspire "crooners and jazz singers" through his performance.

While commenting on his performance, coach Snoop Dogg said he thought "Frank Sinatra was singing on stage." The rapper called him "Fast Eddie," praising his ability to learn quickly. Reba echoed Snoop's sentiments, commending the singer for being "such a mature soul." Although Gwen Stefani leaned toward J. Paul as the Knockout's winner, she praised Edward's ability to fascinate the audience.

After reviewing the feedback, Michael declared Shye the winner, wishing Edward the best for his future. However, before Edward could leave the stage, Reba pressed her Steal button and stole The Voice contestant for her team.

"I loved Edward from the very beginning. He is a character, he's got a great sense of humor...it's going to fun working with him," she said.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm ET only on NBC.
