Love is Blind: Argentina dropped the first four episodes of the Netflix social experiment focused on Latin Americans on November 6, 2024. The segment saw the participants get to know each other and fall in love. While some walked away from the Netflix reality show, others got engaged.
One of the engaged couples, Maria and Mauricio made it to the honeymoon phase in Mexico but faced a difference in opinion when it came to validating each other's feelings. Mauricio felt the reason for the lack of intimacy between them was that she didn't find him attractive. He said that while she never told him he was attractive, she didn't seem disappointed either.
The two sat by the pool but Maria didn't want to get in. Mauricio felt that his fiancée was distracted by the trip but said he needed to feel secure in their relationship. He told the cameras he needed attention when necessary and someone who showed love and affection.
Maria Emilia chimed in on her partner's personality and said that he had some insecurities about needing validation.
"I find that a little scary for me, because I want a man who is confident with himself. Honestly, it makes me feel unsure at times, or even a little uncomfortable," she told the cameras.
"Why did you say that?"— Maria Emilia questions Mauricio about talking about their physical intimacy in Love is Blind: Argentina episode 4
In Love is Blind: Argentina season 1 episode 4, titled Sun. Sand. Sparks, the engaged couple found themselves in Mexico on their honeymoon period. After spending some time with each other, they met with the other members of the pod squad.
Emily and Santiago asked Mauricio about his and Maria's first night together. The couple asked Mauricio whether they slept together and he said no. Emily noted that when she spoke to Maria, it seemed like the two had a good time and the cast member explained that they shared some level of intimacy.
When they returned to the room, Mauricio told his fiancée about his conversation with the other Love is Blind: Argentina couple. He told her that he told them they hadn't had "s*x" yet and that they had decided to keep intimacy to themselves. He added that he also told them that he didn't turn Maria on.
"Did you say that? Why would you say that?" Maria questioned Mauricio.
The male participant said he believed that was why they hadn't been intimate. Maria told the cameras that her Love is Blind: Argentina partner may need more validation. She said she noticed he needed that emotionally and physically. Maria added that she was still analyzing if it had anything to do with her or if it was "some leftover insecurity" from a previous relationship.
The Love is Blind: Argentina star said she was not worried about their physical connection down the line. She said they were going to be fine. Mauricio told Maria he was sorry that he disappointed her because she "expected more." She told him she "really" liked him.
"Maria has never directly told me that I'm attractive. It's weird," he told the cameras.
Later in the episode, he told the cameras that "s*x" was important to him in a relationship. He explained that was why he talked a lot about self-care and physical appearance. He added that he might seem particular but he wanted to be liked by his partner.
"It's keeping the attraction alive, because that really keeps the magic in a relationship going," he added.
Love is Blind: Argentina is set to air episodes 5 to 8 on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, on Netflix.
