"A ticking time bomb"— Love & Marriage: Huntsville fans react to Marques' conversation with Tricia and Melody

Season 9 of Love & Marriage: Huntsville released episode 7, Game a'Thrown, on Saturday, December 14, 2024. The episode saw Tricia throw a graduation party for her children, to which she also invited her ex-partner and her children's father, Marques. However, tensions escalated when Marques told Melody he struggled to co-parent with Ken and Tricia since they were his "triggers."

In an earlier episode, Tricia and her current partner, Ken, sat down with Marques to discuss how they should manage the children, since neither wanted the kids to be impacted by Tricia and Marques' separation. While Ken suggested that Marques be more present in their lives, the latter confessed he felt uncomfortable with Ken in the house.

In episode 7, Marques opened up about his unresolved emotions to Melody and Tricia, expressing how distant he felt from his own children. However, Tricia retaliated, criticizing him for jeopardizing connections by not being present in his children's lives. Later, while Ken was giving a speech, Marques interjected that he was the father.

Love & Marriage: Huntsville fans were unimpressed by Marques' behavior. They took to X to criticize him for saying he felt triggered by Ken and Tricia.

"Marques is inappropriate at this function and someone should take heed. He’s a ticking time bomb. He has so many triggers and needs a therapist ASAP. He shouldn’t be on this show," a fan wrote.

Many Love & Marriage: Huntsville fans criticized Marques for saying he felt triggered and addressing his unresolved feelings at a children's event.

Love & Marriage: Huntsville star Tricia says she might ask Marques for child support

While Marques mingled at the party, Tricia told Melody that she got her divorce papers notarized the other day. Melody was taken aback when the Love & Marriage: Huntsville female cast member revealed that Marques was unaware of the notarization. Melody requested that Tricia save the conversation for later, fearing it might impact the event if she told him then.

While Melody wondered if Marques wanted alimony, Tricia said she might ask him for child support. At that point, Marques walked over and joined their conversation. The Love & Marriage: Huntsville star stated that he was "going through" his emotions and felt uneasy since it was the first time Tricia had invited him over. However, Tricia disagreed.

"This is not his first time being invited over. He's been inside a couple times. He's been inside Xavier's room. He's been upstairs to Xari's room. You've been here couple times," she said.

Later in the Love & Marriage: Huntsville episode, Marques asked Melody how she co-parented her children, wondering if she struggled or felt triggered by the other person as he did. Melody, in response, criticized Tricia's "loud" behavior, deeming it provoking.

It resulted in a heated confrontation between Marques and Tricia, which made Melody realize they "were probably high school sweethearts."

Later, Ken gathered the guests for a speech and thanked everyone for coming. However, when he expressed how it felt to be the children's father while also crediting Tricia, he excluded Marques, bothering him. Marques walked beside them and said:

"I'm the father, hi."
