Survivor 47 released its latest episode on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Host Jeff Probst introduced a brand-new twist that surprised the castaways. He explained that for their reward challenge, the tribes would be randomly drawn into two teams— yellow and blue— each comprising seven players. He added that the tribes would return to their original positions after the challenge.
After an eventful task, the blue team, consisting of Anika, Sol, Rome, Gabe, Andy, Sierra, and Genevieve emerged victorious, winning a trip to the sanctuary for a barbeque. Anika from the Gata tribe was pleased with the win, however, her happiness did not last long.
Later in the immunity challenge, Gata failed to outperform Tuku and Lavo, putting its players at risk of going home. Although Gata's initial target was Andy, because of his poor performance in the immunity challenge, Andy succeeded in convincing his secret alliance members, Sam and Sierra, to turn against Anika. Meanwhile, he gathered Anika and Rachel's support by feeding them a fabricated story about his vulnerable position in the tribe.
As a result of his efforts, Anika was targeted and eventually eliminated from the competition series. She was shocked when the results were announced. Survivor 47 fans took to X to react to Anika's exit. They commented on Andy's gameplay and Anika's reaction to her elimination.

What led to Anika's elimination in episode 5 of Survivor season 47?
For the immunity challenge, the tribes had to drag a heavy net full of sandbags and coconuts to throw them at a puzzle wall and reassemble it again. Since Gata and Tuku had extra players, they asked Anika and Sue to sit out the challenge respectively.
Andy struggled to cut the rope, making his tribe fall behind their competitors. However, once Gata got to the puzzle wall, Sam and Sierra helped Andy dismantle the puzzle, surpassing Lavo in the race. In the meantime, Tuku had already reassembled their puzzle and gained immunity. Lavo and Gata went head-to-head against each other, but the former tribe earned safety by finishing the challenge seconds before Gata.
Andy knew he had to campaign for his safety since the Gata tribemates would want to evict him due to his performance in the immunity challenge. However, Sam felt that keeping Andy in the game would be beneficial. As a result, the Survivor cast member approached Sierra to convince her to evict Anika. He stressed that Anika was deceiving her by pretending to be her friend.
At the same time, Sam knew he could not play his idol at the council without informing Andy because it would raise suspicion and doubt. Consequently, Sam and Sierra concluded that it was in their best interest to evict Anika. Meanwhile, Andy convinced Rachel and Anika to believe he was at risk of going home and needed their support.
At the tribal council, Andy, Sam, and Sierra voted to evict Anika, whereas Rachel voted against Andy. As a result, Anika was eliminated from the competition. While casting his vote Andy said:
"I've been burying you all week. Here's your headstone."
The Survivor evictee was completely caught off guard and struggled to process the turn of events. When Anika asked who orchestrated the blindside, Andy replied that he collaborated with Sam and Sierra. A devastated Anika refused to bid farewell to her tribemates, leaving the council in tears.
