Netflix's The Later Daters premiered on Friday, November 29, 2024. The show brought six older singles from various walks of life to help them find their perfect match. One of these singles was 70-year-old Pam, who wanted to give love another try after being widowed twice. She lived outside Atlanta with her granddaughter, Zoe, and her pet dogs and parrots.
Pam stated that she participated in the experiment because she wanted Zoe not to worry about her. She wished to give her granddaughter the freedom to live her own life. At the same time, Pam confessed she desired to be with someone who could "put up" with her. The Later Daters star mentioned that her big and bright personality often overwhelmed others.
Pam went on three dates but failed to form a romantic connection. The first thing all her dates noticed was her extroverted and playful nature, along with her tendency to turn every conversation into banter. However, not everyone could stomach the former flight attendant's dark-humored jokes about her late husbands and job.
The female star liked drinking mimosas and telling haunted stories. She exhausted her first date with consistent storytelling and asked the third for a job. When her second date revealed that he sang at a club, she teased him, saying she would visit and "boo" him.
Like her dates, The Later Daters fans were also impacted by Pam's personality. Hence, they took to X to share their opinion. One fan on X tweeted:
"Now Pam is a wild child. I think she drinks a lil too much on dates. Hopefully she finds a good match. She's just a lil out of practice."
Several other fans echoed similar sentiments on the platform.
"pam is interesting.. she seems fun with her grandchild but shes too much on the dates, like cool it a bit nana," another fan commented.
"I'm watching #laterdaters I love Pam the retired flight attendant.. I aspire to have the relationship she has with her parrot," a netizen tweeted.
Many The Later Daters fans were surprised by Pam's demeanor on dates.
"Ms. Pam is NOT holding back on her date. She signed a confidentiality agreement and talking about how she was a flight attendant for #NetJets," a user reacted.
"PAM!!!! Omgggg This date was a mess," a person commented.
"Pam asking this black man for job got me dying," another fan wrote.
"Pam is something else. Idk, I may have left her crazy a** sitting at the bar," one user posted.
Other fans of The Later Daters expressed a similar sentiment.
"I kinda love 70 y/o Ms. Pam. She doesn't hold back. But, her sense of humor is wild and she has zero filter. She needs some dating coaching," a person reacted.
"Pam is a mess but how could you not love her," another netizen commented.
"You're a trip" — The Later Daters cast member Robert comments on Pam's personality
Pam went out with Robert, her first blind date in episode 2. She revealed that she was a flight attendant for NetJets, a Warren Buffet company, and had retired only two months ago. She quickly realized she should not have disclosed the company's name since she had signed a confidentiality agreement. However, Pam expressed that she did not care and told everyone whatever she wanted.
The Later Daters star lost her focus when Robert started talking about his radio frequency coordination class. She unknowingly turned the conversation to Star Wars and its sequels. When Robert mentioned he was determined to marry, Pam said:
"Husband number one, he fell asleep with a cigarette and burned the house down and died at 44. Husband number two is dead too. Now you wanna go out with me? I kill 'em off like that, I can tell you."
Robert was caught off guard by her humor and confessed:
"You're a trip."
Their date stretched into episode 3, where Pam further tired Robert with her stories about pyramids, Spotify, Stevie Wonder, and why their food was stuck in Panama. Robert left the date disappointed that Pam preferred talking about other things instead of getting to know him.
Pam then went out with Paul in episode 3. During their date, she commented on her inability to use chopsticks, saying her method was "if it gets in my mouth then I did it right." She held up her chopstick and asked him to accept it like they accept roses on The Bachelor. Although both enjoyed the date, Paul gradually disconnected with Pam after their first encounter.
Pam's last date was with Dwight in episode 5. When The Later Daters star discovered he owned a tour company, she expressed interest in working for him. After Dwight accepted her proposal, she was shown guiding tourists later in the series. Although their romance ended before it could start, it blossomed into a friendship that Pam cherished.
