The Challenge season 40 episode 18, aired on January 1, featured Part 1 of the two-part finale, focusing on a swimming-based overnight challenge. Jordan dominated all three checkpoints, leveraging his strong swimming skills.
Fans criticized the production for tailoring the challenge to his strengths and the male contestants for not targeting him earlier, given his record of winning four seasons and being a finalist in three others.
He proved his caliber yet again in the finale challenge where he not only won all three checkpoints, but was ahead of the other three finalists- Bananas, Derek, and Kyland, by leaps and bounds.
Fans of The Challenge came to X to criticize the men for not voting out Jordan early on, in the eliminations round, because they believed his presence on the finale was a clear threat to them.
"Not a fan of this basically all swimming final. A little is fine but it obviously favors certain people. And the guys were absolutely stupid for not trying to get Jordan out before the final," a fan said.
"This is why the women carry the show because the men did absolutely nothing but let Jordan skate to the final like I’m beefing with all the men now," said another.
"These men got their karma by allowing Jordan to reach the final without facing any eliminations. They won’t defeat him, even with the popularity contest twist," added a third.
"I'll never understand why the guys don't go after Jordan before the final," another wrote.
Fans of The Challenge said that none of the three men stood a chance at winning until they got Jordan out first.
"That’s great, but if the others want to win, they need to get him out," an X user commented.
"If y'all weren’t so obsessed with Bananas and making weird alliances with little names … you could have gotten the real threat (Jordan) out. I don’t feel bad for a single one of them (other than Kyland)," another commented.
"Yall let Jordan get to this final, you deserve for him to mop the floor with yall," wrote one.
"Can’t believe that they did not try to take Jordan out, he is going to take this and win it easily for himself," wrote the other.
Jordan's The Challenge history and his finale performance on season 40 episode 18
Jordan's win in The Challenge is relatively fresher than his co-stars because he bagged The World Championship title in 2023. During the season, Jordan went to the elimination Arena only once and took his remarkable track record up a notch in season 40 by not getting into the Arena even once.
Another noteworthy achievement of his is that he is the fourth player to win more than a million dollars, after Ashley Mitchell, Johnny Bananas, and CT Tamburello.
For the final challenge in season 40 of the season, the contestants had to swim to the shore, solve a puzzle, and come back to their boat at the first checkpoint. Jordan led from the start and finished it with ease. For the second checkpoint, they had to dive down and memorize symbols on a shipwreck, swim up, and recreate them. Jordan maintained his lead here as well.
For the third checkpoint, the contestants didn't only have to swim back to the shore but also climb 1000 stairs to find clues on their next puzzle. But with his swimming lead, Jordan got to the shore before anyone else and secured first place once again.
The finale part 2 of The Challenge season 40 will be aired on MTV, next Wednesday, at 8 pm ET.
