In The Masked Singer season 12, episode 5, aired on October 23, the show paid tribute to Barbie's 65th anniversary. Group B faced elimination, with ChessPiece revealed to be Laverne Cox from Orange is the New Black.
Other contestants included Bluebell, Goo, and Wasp. Fans praised Goo and Wasp's performances on X, with many guessing Wasp to be R&B singer Mario Barrett after his performance of Demi Lovato's Skyscraper.
While none of the four panelists guessed him to be Mario Barrett, the viewers at home thought he was Mario because of his voice and the clues he gave out with his voiceover. Fans of Mario flocked to the social media platform as they seemingly recognized their idol behind the Wasp mask.

"Mario Barrett you might be fooling them but you ain't fooling me!!! Fan since day 1 here," said one fan.
"The Wasps is the singer Mario no doubt! I know that voice," said another fan.
"I'm late but Wasp is Mario!!!! #MaskedSinger I know that voice anywhere!!!!!" a third one added.

A few fans of The Masked Singer also thought there was no way the panelists weren't being able to guess the man behind the Wasp.
"These judges definitely be guessing wrong on purpose cause ain't no way in hell Robin Thicke doesn't know Wasp is Mario," an X user said.
"Mario!! What are you doing on #TheMaskedSinger I know you’re the wasp," another X user said.
"Some people just have very distinct voices and Mario is one of them," a third one said.

Wasp's performance, clues, and the panelists' guesses on The Masked Singer season 12 episode 5
For the Barbie Night performance on The Masked Singer Wasp chose to sing Skyscraper, a hit from Demi Lovato. In his episode 5 voiceover, Wasp said that Barbie might've had her dream house like him, but he took time to realize it.
He explained this by adding that he lived with a dozen other family members, all of whom were hustlers. He said there was "so much noise" in the house and love, but his dad was missing. He continued:
"Without his guidance, I felt like I didn’t know my purpose. So, when I ventured out into the world as a young wasp with big dreams, I had to learn to stand on my own. When I finally made it big, I came back home and my whole family was there, including, much to my surprise, my dad."
When he met his dad and talked to him for the first time, he told him he was proud of him. In that moment he felt like he had limitless potential. He said for every bad memory there was a good memory. He called it a "dream house" because it was all about nurturing his dreams.
The panelist Rita Ora guessed Wasp to be Miguel, while Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg thought it was Frank Ocean, and Ken Jeong guessed him to be Daveed Diggs. Now only time could tell if Wasp really is Mario or one of the stars the panelists guessed.
