Anna Delvey stands by her viral "nothing" comment during her brief stint on Dancing with the Stars. Julianne Hough, one of the show hosts, asked Delvey what she would be taking away from the show after she got eliminated, to which Delvey bluntly replied, "Nothing."
The convicted fraudster explained her one-word answer to Tori Spelling in her misSPELLING podcast on Sunday, September 29, 2024. In the episode titled "MisInvented," Anna Delvey said:
"[The judges] told me what I'm supposed to do. I tried to do it and then I still was rejected. And, I'm taking away nothing. This is what I'm taking away from it, because your advice was worthless."
After her "nothing" comment on Dancing with the Stars, one of the show's judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, called Delvey's remark "dismissive." In an Entertainment Weekly interview on September 25, 2024, she also said that a little gratitude from Delvey "could have changed the narrative."
However, in the podcast, Anna Delvey explained that the judges' advice "did not pay off" for her despite her efforts to follow it. She acknowledged how people try to interpret her answer in many ways, but she insisted that she "really did not take away much" from her experience on the show.
Delvey performed The Devil Wears Prada-inspired quickstep with her DWTS pro dancer Ezra Sosa on September 24. However, she was eliminated in week two of the dance competition.
Anna Delvey said her short stint in Dancing with the Stars was "a waste of time"
Elsewhere in the podcast, Anna Delvey explained what she felt after getting eliminated on week two of Dancing with the Stars. She said that her early elimination was "a bit upsetting." She added that her overall experience on DWTS "felt like a waste of time...just to discard me too easily." Delvey explained:
"I felt like, well, they were building me up. It's like, oh, well, 'Only if you smile more, only if you do like XYZ. It's going to be so much better for you.' And it felt like they put so much effort trying to get me on the show, like, make me feel comfortable just to...eliminate me this early."
She further expressed her confusion about why she was eliminated so early from the show after the "effort" the producers made to cast her. The show was previously criticized for casting Delvey, a convicted fraudster, in the show. The View hosts famously called out why Delvey was allowed to join the competition while under house arrest. She had to continue wearing her ankle monitor on the show.
That said, Anna Delvey told Tori Spelling on the podcast that the cast "was generally nice" towards her. Spelling was also in DWTS before she left the show with Delvey in a double elimination on week two.
