Anna Delvey's Dancing With the Stars partner, Ezra Sosa, has come to the faux heiress' defense because of the amount of hate she received online. He alleged that Delvey had an emotional first week in the dance competition and that he found her crying in the bathroom during the DWTS premiere.
In an Instagram video Sosa shared on Tuesday, September 24, he recalled the excitement of the first week of DWTS and said that he felt a lot of love "from literally every single person, including my partner." However, the dance pro noted that Delvey didn't receive the same warmth and support. He also recalled not being able to find Delvey after the press line and after reading hateful comments online. He said:
"We couldn't find her. We finally found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I'd never seen her like that and it broke my heart."
Anna Delvey's partner also said in the video that he wanted to give her "the best experience" in Dancing With the Stars. He added that knowing that the opposite is happening was "heartbreaking."
Sosa also implored audiences to give his dancing partner "some grace," saying that "no one deserves the amount of hate" Anna Delvey is getting right now. The DWTS pro added that Delvey had "stepped up to the plate" and "deserves a second chance."
Anna Delvey faces more criticism after joining Dancing With the Stars
Anna Delvey faced backlash the moment she was announced joining Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement allowed her to join the dance competition, although she would have to continue wearing her ankle monitor.
The View hosts famously discussed Delvey joining the dance show on September 5. Alyssa Farrah Griffin, Sunny Hostin, and Whoopi Goldberg shared that they are opposed to the production's decision to have a convicted fraudster join the competition. They also alleged that Delvey still owes money, which they later corrected on air after a letter from Delvey's attorney.
In recent news, DWTS fans criticized Delvey for another reason—her performance on the premiere, which some netizens called "emotionless." Harsh comments circulated online, one of which was from an X user named @averagely_basic, which read:
"Is it possible to charge Anna Delvey with another crime for how emotionless that dance was?"
Others also commented how her DWTS premiere performance "sucked all the energy and happiness out of the ballroom." Others were also bothered by the convicted fraudster showing off her bedazzled ankle monitor early in her dance performance with Sosa.
Delvey, however, is not the only controversial figure cast in DWTS. The dance show previously had former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, Lori Loughlin, and Mossimo Giannulli's daughter, Olivia Jade, and Food Network's Paula Deen on the dance floor.
