The Masked Singer season 12 episode 5 was released on October 23. The latest episode was titled Barbie Night as it celebrated Mattel's Barbie's 65th Anniversary. It saw contestants of Group B compete in this tribute, and Laverne Cox aka Chess Piece was sent home at the night's end.
The Orange is the New Black fame, Laverne, wasn't correctly guessed by any of the four panelists- Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora. She chose to sing I'm Every Woman by Chaka Khan and let out a Barbie-themed clue saying she had a Barbie named after her.
Fans of The Masked Singer flocked to X to comment on Chess Piece's elimination from season 12. They reacted to Laverne Cox being behind the mask.

Some took the Barbie bait and guessed it was her even before the reveal, while others were shocked to realize it.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME NO ONE GUESSED LAVERNE COX?! ARE WE DUMMMMB?!" said one fan.
"Chess Piece sounds like Laverne Cox this week. Way more than last week," said another fan.

Fans of The Masked Singer avidly guessed who might be behind the Chess Piece mask before the reveal. Some guessed it correctly, while others couldn't.

"Guys, it’s literally the Laverne Cox Barbie in that chair," another X user wrote.
"I guessed right," commented one.

Laverne Cox's last performance as Chess Piece on The Masked Singer season 12 episode 5
In episode 4 of The Masked Singer aired last week, Laverne chose to sing Cher's Believe. She followed it up with yet another powerful performance in episode 5 as she sang I'm Every Woman by Chaka Khan.
Her voiceover in this episode, Laverne said she was teased and poked fun of when she was a child. She added that she was also a big Barbie fan as a child but wasn't allowed to play with it, which hurt her even more. She added:
"The criticism and scrutiny continued over the years and made me question everything I love about myself. So, I had to take control of my own board. And the one thing that helped me heal was the one thing I was missing all along: Barbie".
She said that she kept buying Barbies for herself since then and believed that it was never too late to re-live one's childhood. She then revealed that Mattel now had a Barbie modeled after her. She said Barbie could be anything, which made women feel like they could be anything too.
She ended the voiceover by adding that she was there to celebrate every woman that day on the eve of Barbie Night.
Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg guessed her to be Serena Williams, while Ken Jeong thought it was Issa Rae. Robin Thicke went with Misty Copeland, while Rita Ora believed it was Tyra Banks.
