On Tuesday, July 9, actress, producer, and designer Angela Simmons took to her Instagram to share a video of herself in a bathtub full of Oreos. The clip also showed her dipping a cookie in a glass of milk, sitting at a table, and eating them one after another.

The post marked the collaboration of her bakery brand Angelas Cakes with Atlanta-based vegan hamburger restaurant chain, Slutty Vegan, the menu of which will now have Fried Oreos in their dessert column. The same was conveyed through her caption which read:

“Fried Oreos anyone? Soooooo excited for my official launch with @sluttyveganatl!!! Our @eatangelascakes Fried Oreos will be available at all Slutty Vegan locations beginning Friday, July 12th!! #AngeslasCakes #SluttyVegan #VeganFriedOreos.”

In the wake of this viral video, the internet is now having diverse reactions. Most deemed her post, bathing in a tub filled with Oreos, as unusual and bizarre, with some even considering it cringeworthy and trolling her for it.

For instance, an Instagram user with the handle @b0mbchell commented on The Shade Room’s repost of Angela Simmons’ original video by writing:

Angela Simmons announced the collab during the BET Awards interview

Earlier this week, Angela Simmons sat with BET Awards for an exclusive interview on July 9, 2024, and announced her business collaboration.

The Angela's Cakes founder shared that her brand is partnering with Sl*tty Vegan and launching fried Oreos/ cookies. She added that the dessert will be available at all Sl*tty Vegan outlets.

“They are vegan. I think people are intimidated by it. Just because they are vegan doesn’t mean they are not good. They taste amazing,” the 36-year-old mentioned.

Angela Simmons also credited Slutty Vegan founder, Pinky Cole-Hayes, for their collab and shared how they came up with the idea of fried Oreos together.

According to The Source in an article published July 9, 2024, the launch is part of a limited-edition menu and will be available across the restaurant’s Atlanta and New York locations from July to September. Simmons told the publication:

“With me being a major vegan foodie with a sweet tooth, I’m always looking to satisfy my cravings, especially when I’m traveling. Working with Pinky and Slutty Vegan has been amazing because she shares that same vision of bringing the tastiest vegan options to the masses.”

Likewise, Pinky Cole-Hayes shared that she was “excited” about the collab and the rollout, and added that Slutty Vegan food trucks will also have the item available on their menu.

Notably, this is not the first time Angela Simmons has come under fire in recent times. Last month, she was criticized for carrying a gun-shaped purse at the 2024 BET Awards, with many pointing out that it was ironic given she lost her former fiancé and baby daddy Sutton Tennyson was a fatal victim of gun violence.
