Kim Kardashian recently got candid about the challenges of taking care of her and her ex-husband Kanye West's four kids. The reality TV star joined her friend Zoe Winkler on the Tuesday, November 12, episode of iHeartRadio's What in the Winkler? podcast. While talking about her home life, the socialite and businesswoman said:
"I just think that no matter what kind of help I have, [I'm] basically raising four kids by myself."
The SKIMS founder's comment was in response to people who told her that she has "the resources to have nannies" or hire the help she needs to raise her kids. While Kardashian admitted to having a "great support system," she still claimed that it doesn't discount the fact that being a single mom has its challenges.
Kim Kardashian explained:
"Sometimes, in the middle of the night, when they're all sleeping in your bed kicking you and crying and waking up—it's not something that I talk about a lot because I feel like there's always judgment."
While Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have joint custody of their kids North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, the reality star is reportedly raising the four kids primarily by herself.
Kim Kardashian details her hectic routine with her and Kanye West's four kids
With four kids at home, mornings can be busy for Kim Kardashian, especially on school days. The SKIMS mogul recalled what her hectic morning routine looks like during her recent appearance on the What in the Winkler? podcast. She said:
"I mean even carpool this morning, I had five kids that I had to take. And everyone wants to leave at like different times or wants different stuff. And I feel like I'm at like a pit stop of a race car driver."
It's not the first time Kim Kardashian opened up about her busy schedule as a mom of four. She previously opened up about using the time she drops the kids to school as her "me time" where she could "recharge." She told People in June 2022 all about how she finds time for herself, saying:
"I drop the kids all off at school and then on my car ride home I listen to the music that I want to listen to and that's good for my mental [health]. I have a minute alone without making phone calls and that's when I recharge."
She also detailed how early she starts her day to get a workout session in, which she usually does before dropping off the kids at school. She said:
"I get up at 5:30 and my workout is 6 to 7, kids ate up at 7:05 a.m."
That said, the Kardashian star claimed that asking for 20 minutes of alone time in her room is "really rare" because someone always needs her.
Kim Kardashian also previously opened up about how she navigated telling her kids about the divorce with Kanye West. In an interview with GQ in 2021, she said that "ultimately, what matters is that kids feel loved and heard." She noted having to explain the divorce in a way that the kids can understand.
Kim and Kanye West finalized their divorce in 2022 after about seven years of marriage.
