Yet another version of the coveted Netflix show has come to an end with the Love is Blind Mexico finale, which was released on August 18. Only one couple, out of the six that got out of the pods, got married, but several others stayed with the viewers long after.
Irais and René were one such couple from Love is Blind Mexico. Their story went through tumultuous turns, yet stood firm, only to wither away in the end. The two had found a connection they were willing to fight for and build on, despite their differences and societal pressures.
So when René didn't say "I do" at the altar, fans of Love is Blind Mexico got curious to know where the two of them stood after; if they continued to build upon what they had explored in the experimental show or reached a conclusion.
Irais, in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, shared the status of her current relationship with her Love is Blind Mexico partner. She also spoke about how she made it to the show, things that she overcame and took back, scenes that didn't make it to the final cut, and the shows she would like to undertake in the future.
About her current relationship with René, Irais said:
"Yes, René and I currently have a beautiful friendship. For us, love has transformed but is still present. What we experienced in there was very special to us, and even though the whole story wasn't told, it remains in our hearts as we lived it. That's why there will always be a lot of love and respect between us."

Q. How did you decide to be a part of Love is Blind Mexico?
I've always been a fan of Love is Blind in all its versions across all countries, so as soon as I found out it was coming to Mexico, I knew I wanted to be part of that. I was really excited about the possibility of finding love in a special and different way.
Q. Did you think you’d find a connection in the pods?
Yes and I did, In René, I found the most genuine and special connection I could imagine. He was a place of peace and security throughout the whole process. Honestly, when you watch it on television, you don't believe such strong connections can form, but when you experience it yourself, you realize the magic that happens in there.
Q. How long does each date last while you’re filming?
The dates have different durations as the process progresses. In the beginning, they last 15 minutes because you have dates with all the participants, but later on, they become much longer as the connections narrow down.
Q. You said it was hard for you to be okay with your partner drinking because of your past. You overcame it to be with Rene. How is that going now? Do you still find it hard?
That issue was taken out of context within the narrative of the show. My concern with alcohol was about the fear of violence that often stems from alcohol consumption—not just from a man, but from anyone who might act violently under the influence, as was seen at other moments in the show with other people.
In René's case, I want to clarify that he doesn’t regularly drink alcohol, and when he does, it’s in a social setting, always being very loving and respectful. So it was never an issue in our relationship, even outside of the show.
Q. Watching the Love is Blind Mexico back, do you think you were portrayed as yourself? (What did you think of your final edit)?
The editing is always crafted to create a show. In my case, at the beginning, I didn’t feel that my true essence was shown. There were many scenes told out of order and some that never happened but seem like they did (thanks to the magic of television).
However, I believe that as the story progresses and you start to know me and my context, you can see the kind of person I am and the values I hold, regardless of the story they’re trying to tell. In the end, I think this allows the viewer to realize that there’s a bit of show and a bit of reality in all of this.
Q. Were there any important parts that didn’t make it to the final cut?
Yes, many scenes were left out, especially those that revealed the truth but exposed the only couple that got married, which didn’t work for the project since they had to protect them as much as possible.
As for René’s and my story, most of what we experienced in the pods was cut, including the proposal and the reveal. There were very important and loving moments that weren’t shown because they didn’t fit the narrative they were trying to sell.
Q. Are you open to doing more reality shows in the future? If so what kind of shows interest you?
I would definitely participate in another reality show. I’d be interested in something with adventure or mental strategy, but I’m open to all opportunities that may come after this great project.
Q. What were your takeaways from the show and what advice would you give to someone who joins Love is Blind Mexico?
This project led me to explore the depths of my emotions and inner strength. I learned what it means to love and be loved genuinely, to listen more attentively, to express my emotions with courage, and to value every moment of vulnerability that I shared with all of you.
My advice for anyone considering participating would be: Be clear about what you’re looking for and fight for it, but in the process, don’t forget who you are and what you’re worth.
