90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way released its latest episode on Monday, September 23, 2024. It featured Corona embarking on a journey to establish her identity in Iceland, where she felt sidelined and discriminated against as an African-American woman.
In the latest episode, she met with a social media group of Black Icelanders who informed her that it was easy to feel like an "outsider" in Iceland. They urged her to learn the Icelandic language and get more involved in their culture to overcome feeling left out.
When asked about her job prospects, Corona revealed that she wanted to be a midwife but hadn't researched much on its requirements in Iceland. The group members warned her that it would be difficult for her to secure a job if she didn't know the Icelandic language. They added that even an impressive resume wouldn't help her find a job if she was unaware of the people's culture and their tongue.
Corona was disheartened when a midwifery school director confirmed that admission was impossible without knowing Icelandic. While Corona felt cornered, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans took to X to criticize the cast member for not researching the eligibility criteria before relocating to a foreign country.
"Corona is blaming the lady at the school, like she's trying to keep her out. She's acting so bratty and entitled," a fan wrote.
"Corona… why wouldn’t the courses for midwifery not be in Icelandic since you are in Iceland? I don’t understand why you didn’t finish in the US and then apply abroad with your credentials," another fan commented.
"Corona was smart enough to get into Penn but not smart enough to learn when the Icelandic midwife school application is due or what language classes are taught in," a netizen tweeted.
Many 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans criticized Corona for blaming others instead of holding herself accountable.
"Corona, they are not challenging your degree, they are requiring that you speak the language to get the job," one user reacted.
"Why is it everyone’s fault but Corona’s in reference becoming a midwife," a person commented.
"Just stop Corona, this woman isn’t ripping your dreams apart. It was your stupidity not researching things before you just abandoned what you did have for a guy you’ve only known for 4 months," another fan wrote.
At the same time, some 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans called Corona "stupid" for relocating to a foreign country without learning about its culture or the jobs it had to offer.
"I wanted to believe that Corona was smart, but every moment she is on my TV, I am learning how stupid she really is. She has not done one once of research on anything and thought she could just move to Iceland & do whatever she wanted to do?," another user tweeted.
"Corona has no common sense. She needs to take her b*tt back home," one netizen commented.
"Corona moved to Iceland without knowing anything about how she’d continue her education/career or if Inge is thinking this is forever," a fan reacted.
"Big blow to the gut" — 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Corona feels discouraged after discovering the job requirements
In the latest episode, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Corona met with the director of the only midwifery school in Iceland. It was an information session to help Corona learn more about the work culture and the eligibility requirements needed for her admission.
Corona informed the director that she was accepted to a midwifery program at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school. However, she declined the offer and moved to Iceland to be with her partner, but she aimed to continue her studies and become a midwife.
The director informed the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way cast member that apart from holding a Bachelor of Nursing degree and a nursing license, she needs to speak and read the Icelandic language, as all the courses were taught in it.
While speaking to the cameras, Corona revealed that whatever little research she did had told her that the classes would be in English. So, hearing the director's words made her want to cry. Her concerns deepened when she discovered that the admission interview would also be conducted in Icelandic.
When the director revealed that she had missed the application deadline and had to wait another year and a half to apply, it crushed Corona's dreams.
"I feel like I just got my heart ripped out of my chest. It's a big blow to the gut. Even the best-case scenario is my worst-case scenario, and I'm feeling a little shaky and rocky about my future here. Being a midwife is my first love," Corona said.
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way airs every Monday at 8 pm ET on TLC.
