⁠“Childish”—Love & Marriage: Huntsville fans criticize Ken for excluding Marquez in his speech about Tricia’s kids

Love & Marriage: Huntsville season 9 episode 7 was released on December 14, 2024. Titled Game a' Thrown, the episode witnessed the cast members attending one of Tricia's children's graduation party.

At the party, Marquez, Tricia's ex husband, went around and asked other Love & Marriage: Huntsville cast members how he should be coping with separation from his family. Meanwhile, Tricia's boyfriend, Ken, made a speech that was hurtful to Marquez and the latter reacted to it at that moment.

In his speech, Ken addressed the guests and thanked them for coming to his and Tricia's kids' celebration. However, he didn't mention Marquez's name in his speech, thus, not acknowledging his presence as the biological father of his children. This ticked Marquez off, who interrupted Ken's speech and said he was the father.

The episode ended on a cliffhanger here, but fans took to X to react to this exchange. They criticized Ken for failing to take Marquez's name especially when he knew the latter was mentally torn about it.

"This speech Ken gave was very much childish. Why invite the dude if you were going to throw shade at him," said one fan.

"Marquez must have pissed Ken off because he was clearly taking jabs in that speech at the end… not too much on Ken because he is THAT GUY," another fan said.

"Ken is WRONG for not acknowledging ex-husband Marques as the kid's father in his speech at the party. Just plain disrespectful & embarrassing. NEWSFLASH KEN: Latricia doesn't care for you like you do for her," added a third one.

"Ken, you are foul for that!! If you're going to invite him to the event, don't disrespect him. He's still the father or sperm donor, whatever you want to call him. That man is not stable. We all see it! Shouldn't use him for ya'll storyline! Smh," a person wrote.

Some fans of Love & Marriage: Huntsville criticized Ken for doing such a thing in front of the kids. They also reminded him that they weren't actually his children.

"Okay....Ken is officially on my sh!t list. He didn't have to do that in front of the kids. That was low-down as hell," an X user wrote.

"Ken you are the one in the middle of these MARRIED ppl & them ain’t yo damn kids not even the other baby," a viewer mentioned.

"I don’t like how Ken think he’s these chillen pappy and only been around for a second," a fan said.

"Ken said he think Marquez has mental issues and then goes out his way to say triggering things hoping it will cause a scene. Ken slip is showing," another person wrote.

Things that went down at Tricia's kid's graduation party on Love & Marriage: Huntsville season 9 episode 7

Marques spoke to the fellow cast members, Maurice, Chris, and others, at the party about how he felt watching Ken taking over his family. He said he was triggered seeing his loved ones like that and asked them for advice to support his mental instability. He also asked for the same advice from Mel.

Chris replied that it was odd for Marquez to be discussing his issues on their first meeting and added that he needed therapy. Mel advised him to not be the trigger himself.

Later in the Love & Marriage: Huntsville episode, Ken thanked his guests for showing up to their kids' celebration. He said that he wanted to celebrate the parents—himself and Tricia. This was when Marquez interrupted his speech joined him and said:

"I am the father, hi".
