America's Got Talent released the second part of its season 19 finale on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. The segment, titled Finale Results, saw host Terry Crews reveal America's votes, announcing the show's winner.
However, the final ten contestants took to the stage one last time before the results were announced. While some collaborated to deliver memorable performances, others were joined by celebrity artists. Some celebrities who graced the AGT stage were The Detroit Youth Choir, Simone Biles, Steve Aoki, Michael Bublé, Andra Day, Journey, Gabriel Iglesias, and the cast of Magic Mike Live.
The major part of the two-hour finale showcased the guest performances, whereas the results were announced in the last few minutes of the episode. America's Got Talent fans were unimpressed by the show's format. They took to X to complain about the "filler" acts, stating there was no need for a separate episode solely to announce the results.
"THIS FINALE COULDVE BEEN AN EMAIL," a fan wrote.
"I hate finale shows because they’re so long. Just get on with it!" another fan commented.
"Also next season needs overhaul. Whoever decided the finale should air like 90 mins of filler and then shoving all the results into 30 mins should be fired. Also, why was this sh*t not live? Makes no sense. Also some of the season decisions were bad, like the live buzzers," a netizen tweeted.
Many fans claimed that since the America's Got Talent finale was pre-recorded, the winner's name had already surfaced on the internet through various leaks.
".@AGT, get your NDA lawyer involved and never do a pre-recorded finale again! Too many leaks about the same person winning are spreading — It is ruining the experience for viewers and the show as a whole," a user reacted.
"The fact that there's spoilers out for the finale is absurd, AGT needed to have a great excuse to have this pre taped cuz my goodness what a awful idea that was," one person commented.
"Well, #AGT better have learned their lesson by splitting up the finale between a week and having the winner spoiled," one fan wrote.
Meanwhile, most America's Got Talent fans disapproved of the lengthy finale.
"Am I the only one who thinks the #AGT finale and result shows are unnecessary? Do people actually enjoy them? I just want to know the results, it doesn’t need to be a whole production. Maybe I’m in the minority? So super curious what y’all think," another user tweeted.
"I've managed to watch 2 hours of DWTS and finish off the Red Sox game before finally flipping to #AGT just in time to see who makes top 5. Further proving there's absolutely no need for the finale to take up 3 hours on the schedule," one netizen commented.
"Who else here thinks that the #AGT finale could’ve been condensed into ONE HOUR?" a person reacted.
Singer Richard Goodall wins season 19 of America's Got Talent
Finalist Sky Elements started the show with a light show outside the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. They were followed by the Detroit Youth Choir, who wowed the audience with their rendition of High Hopes by Panic! at the Disco. Legendary DJ Steve Aoki collaborated with finalist AIRFOOTWORKS, delivering an epic performance.
After the two guest acts, the finalists, Roni Sagi & Rhythm, Hakuna Matata Acrobats, and Brent Street, came together to perform to Hope by NF. After them, The Voice season 26's newest coach Michael Bublé graced the America's Got Talent stage with his mesmerising cover of Nat King Cole's L-O-V-E.
Up next was actress and singer Andra Day, who coupled with the aerialist duo Sebastian & Sonia to deliver a high-risk act. Later, DeeDee Simon performed the Beatles' hit Come Together alongside the Detroit Youth Choir.
Richard Goodall sang his viral audition song Don't Stop Believin', alongside Neal Schon and members of Journey. It was a full-circle moment for the America's Got Talent finalist. Learnmore Jonasi was joined on stage by renowned comedian Gabriel Iglesias, who not only advised him about his future but also invited him to open his show in Las Vegas.
In the later segment of guest performances, quick-change artist Solange Kardinaly was joined by the cast of Magic Mike Live, and together they performed on Ginuwine's Pony and Pink's Raise Your Glass. The closing act was a daring presentation by gymnasts Simone Biles and more from the Gold Over America Tour.
Soon, Terry revealed the voting results. Learnmore Jonasi finished in fifth place, while Solange Kardinaly finished in fourth. Sky Elements and Roni Sagi & Rhythm finished in third and second places respectively. The "singing janitor" Richard Goodall took first place, winning the $1 million grand prize.
America's Got Talent is available to stream on Peacock.
