Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac released episode 12, titled Shake the Devil Off, on Sunday, December 22, 2024. It showcased Karen criticizing Jacqueline for releasing balloons in the air at her party. She also reminded her co-star that it was considered an illegal activity because it impacted the environment and caused global warming.
In an earlier segment of the episode, Jacqueline crashed Karen's Love Lagoon party carrying and then releasing heart-shaped balloons, which unsettled the host. Karen had told Mia that she did not want Jacqueline at her party because of their past feud. So, her sudden arrival upset Karen, who threatened to call the police to make Jacqueline leave the party.
Later, when the cast arrived in Panama, Karen told Jacqueline that she had begun pressing charges against her for showing up at her event. She expressed her disapproval of Jacqueline's balloon "stunt" by saying it was illegal.
"Releasing balloons into the atmosphere is illegal... because global warming, they don't want us to do it," Karen said.
While most of the cast burst out laughing after hearing Karen's statement, The Real Housewives of Potomac fans took to X to share their opinions of her remark.
"Not releasing balloons being illegal because of global warming. Karen cracks me up," a fan wrote.
"Karen you released balloons for your mom….EXACTLY (they showed it)," another fan commented.
"Oh Karen just added a ninth citation by incriminating herself for harming the environment," a netizen tweeted.
Many fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac commented on the hilarity of the statement.
"Karen going to single handedly SAVE the planet, she’s going to stop everyone from releasing balloons wow," a user reacted.
"KAREN SAID RELEASING BALLOONS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE IS ILLEGAL IM CACKLING," a person reacted.
"LMFAOOOOOOO… Karen is Crazy Not “Press Charges Over Some Balloons “Will Lady Sue Me Too I Release Them Up in The Sky!" another fan wrote.
At the same time, other fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac believed Karen dragged the situation out of proportion.
"Now pressing charges may be a bit dramatic she had balloons, not weapons. And she left within minutes of arrival," one user posted.
"Now Karen knows she doesn't give a damn about global warming lmao," a person reacted.
"Jacqueline is so full of s**t, but Karen please not pressing charges and talking about balloon releases are illegal. Girl…" another netizen commented.
"They failed miserably" — The Real Housewives of Potomac's Karen refuses to believe Jacqueline had good intentions bringing eight balloons
Jacqueline brought eight balloons and released them at Karen's party to help Karen release the "weight" of her eight citations. Despite explaining that she had good intentions, Karen remained unconvinced. The Real Housewives of Potomac star believed the eigh-balloon stint negatively implied her ongoing DUI case.
Karen accused Jacqueline of trespassing on her property and revealed that she had begun the process of pressing charges against her.
"Whatever your intentions were, they failed miserably," she added.
During the discussion of the charges, The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member noted that releasing balloons into the atmosphere was illegal. Upon hearing that, Mia reminded Karen that she did the same in 2018 while honoring her parents' lives. The cast members were surprised by Karen's stance and insisted that she worry about her own DUI case.
While Jacqueline apologized to Karen for showing up at her house and "trespassing," she refused to apologize for the "message" she brought with the balloons.
"I don't need to talk about this anymore. You dislike me and hate me, just like Diablo was over there, the Devil," Jacqueline said.
The Real Housewives of Potomac airs every Sunday at 8 pm ET only on Bravo.
