America's Got Talent season 19 returned with its third quarterfinal round on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Eleven acts took to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium stage to compete against one another, hoping to advance in the show.

Japanese dance crew, Sabrina, was among the performers scheduled for the night. Their synchronized, power-packed dance performance amazed the live audience and was praised by the judges. However, judge Simon Cowell appeared unimpressed by their act, calling it mediocre after comparing it to previous winners, The Mayyas, a Lebanese dance group.

America's Got Talent fans disagreed with Simon's feedback. Many believed they deserved the Live Show Golden Buzzer which could have sent them straight to the finale. Mesmerized by their well-executed routine, netizens took to X to applaud the group's performance.

"Sabrina crushed this dance! Wow! They are totally synchronized! #AGT," a fan wrote.
"#AGT Now that was great. Sabrina's dancing is intense and so in sync with each other," another fan wrote.
"Holy Sabrina Batman!!! That woke me up!!! You are amazing!!!! Great job #AGT," a person tweeted.

America's Got Talent season 19 fans criticized Simon for comparing Sabrina to The Mayyas, while others felt the crew was "robbed" of the Golden Buzzer.

"How dare you Simon, Sabrina are awesome #AGT," a netizen commented.
"I think Sabrina was robbed of a Golden Buzzer. #AGT," one fan tweeted.
"Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the Mayaas were all adults, and Sabrina is all if not mostly teenagers? Ofc teenagers aren't gonna be better than adults. I don't think Simon should be comparing Sabrina to them since they were 3 years ago. #AGT," one user reacted.

Despite the criticism, fans continued praising the America's Got Talent contestant.

"Those transitions are amazing! Everyone in our house stopped what they were doing to watch Sabrina! #AGT," another fan commented.
"Whoa! Sabrina's performance was magical, mesmerizing, and astonishing! #AGT," a person wrote.
"SABRINA … AND THEIR CHOREOGRAPHY…. everything is immaculate and i never seen ANYTHING like this before [#AGT]," a netizen tweeted.

"That wasn't as good" — Simon criticizes Sabrina's performance in America's Got Talent quarterfinal

Dance group Sabrina mesmerized the audience with their high-intensity routine. Donning all-black outfits, the 18 dancers' crew delivered a synchronized performance that enchanted the judges. They danced to a fast-paced violin track in their act's first segment, enhancing the viewers' experience.

In the second half of their routine, they used their skirts as props and delivered commendable whacking moves. Sabrina's performance received a standing ovation from judges Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel. The America's Got Talent audience cheered and applauded the act.

"The music, the way you guys look, synchronicity, I mean, you can tell that you guys have been putting so much work. Congratulations," Sofia said.

However, Simon differed from the consensus and said:

"This is by far the biggest reaction we've had so far. That's always a very good sign. The only thing I would say is, we did have a group who won the show called The Mayyas a few years ago, who were spectacular. That wasn't as good."

The crowd was unhappy with the America's Got Talent judge's comment. Simon added that they "should be better" since there was room for improvement. Howie disagreed, saying they deserved to be on the show. Heidi complimented the dance group and said she felt their passion. She believed America would vote them through to the next round.

"Fingers crossed, toes crossed. I think yes," Heidi stated.

America's Got Talent season 19 will return with the fourth week of Quarterfinals on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
