"Crushed that elim" — The Challenge season 40 fans react to Aneesa's elimination

The Challenge season 40 aired its latest episode on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. In the previous episode, eight players were marked as "targets"— Era 1's Aneesa and Derrick, Era 2's Bananas and Laurel, Era 3's Jordan and Nia, and Era 4's Jenny and Horacio. The "targets" would ultimately end up in the elimination round if their Era lost a challenge.

In the latest episode, host TJ Lavin announced that the contestants would participate in a trivia challenge. Each Era attempted to put their best foot forward since they did not want to send their "targets" into elimination.

After an eventful challenge, Era 2 emerged victorious whereas Era 4 secured the last position. As a result, Jenny and Horacio from the losing Era were sent to the arena for the elimination challenge.

After much deliberation, the victorious Era put Derrick and Aneesa as Horacio and Jenny's opponents in the arena. Although Aneesa presented a commendable fight, she failed to beat Jenny and was eventually eliminated from the show. The Challenge season 40 fans took to X to praise Aneesa's performance, despite her loss.

"Credit to Aneesa, she crushed that elim. That was way closer than I would’ve ever thought it would be. She still needs to train better to show teammates why she’s an asset, but damn did she earn some respect with that performance. But take a damn break already," a fan wrote.

At the same time, many The Challenge fans criticized Jenny's performance in the competition. They expected her to do better.

"Jenny is such a wasteman. This was hers to lose. She had 4 more and couldn't even keep her endurance up like wtf? Nah, shout out to anessa. She's a f**king beast," a user reacted.

"Wow, jenny! That was a little too close, definitely not something I would have thought, like beasted that final in the cold snow, won, but narrowly," another person wrote.

"Somebody tell kaycee to shut tf, Jenny doesn't look like she is "giving up" she literally looks sick and was wheezing," one fan tweeted.

The Challenge fans commended Aneesa for putting up a close fight against Jenny.

"No but I give Aneesa mad props she actively was about to beat Jenny, in a CARDIO based elimination which is crazy," a netizen commented.

The Challenge season 40 star Aneesa requested Bananas not target her and Derrick

Team members Jenny and Horacio walked straight into elimination after their Era lost the daily challenge. The winning era, Era 2, had to decide who the losers would face in the arena. Their options were Derrick and Aneesa from Era 1 or Jordan and Nina from Era 3. After much discussion, Laurel and Bananas voted for Aneesa and Derrick.

However, before the decision was made, Aneesa requested Bananas not to target Era 1. Bananas reassured The Challenge star that he had their backs but could not speak for Laurel. On the contrary, Horacio convinced Laurel that he would prefer competing against Derrick and running the final with Jordan.

Since Laurel's loyalties lay with Jordan, she persuaded Bananas to nominate Era 1 for the arena challenge. The elimination challenge, 'Pick It Up' was a cardio-based challenge, where the contestants had to run and collect jacks while a ball ran its course on a track. They had to catch the ball for the jacks they had picked up to count.

After a close contest, Jenny managed to surpass Aneesa, who could not make it to the finish line because she missed her ball. With a score of 40-37, Aneesa was eliminated from the competition.
