Dancing with the Stars season 33 aired episode 8, titled, 500th Episode, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. The segment saw the contestants put on multiple performances, including one inspired by those who came in the previous seasons.

Former NFL player Danny Amendola and his partner Witney Carson drew inspiration from Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough's Quickstep to Hey Pachuco from season 5 and earned 27 out of 30. This was followed by their Instant Dance Challenge performance that earned them a 24 out of 30.

Fans of the dance reality show commented on Danny and Witney's performances online and appreciated their skills. One person wrote on X:

"Hands down Danny’s best dance so far this season! Frame was solid… when he was on the stairs the nerves kind of caused a slight out of sync moment and he stumbled a bit when doing a turn BUT my God he did Helio & Julianne justice! It’s a 9"
"Nice Quickstep Danny!! Enjoyed the Rendition from Helio's Quickstep back in Season 5!!" a fan commented.
"OH WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT DANNY NOT BEING ABLE TO DANCE???? YEAHHHH QUIET AINT NO BACK TALK," a tweet read.

While some fans liked Danny and Witney's act, others pointed out their flaws:

"LOOK AT DANNY GO!! He was honestly kinda thriving with this dance and I loved this for him. He really crushed it, AND THAT HAT CHOREO?! ICONIC," a person wrote.
"I don’t know what everyone’s in Danny’s dancing. To me, he’s stiff. Joey is the one who is a natural dancer," a fan commented.
"It’s kinda funny how much the judges glaze Danny every week because that quickstep was not THAT GOOD. Like come now," a tweet read.

Fans commented on the duo's overall performances in episode 8 of Dancing with the Stars season 33:

"Danny and Witney less successful in that routine. They made it work, but you could definitely feel the timing differences throughout the music," a person wrote.
"CAI WAS RIGHT. I noticed that as well. Nothing will feel quite as exciting and almost "spontaneous" as the original. But I think Witney did a great job with that and it was super creative. Loved Danny's performance tonight, too!" a fan commented.

Danny and Witney earned a total score of 51 in Dancing with the Stars season 33 episode 8

In Dancing with the Stars season 33 episode 8, titled, 500th Episode, the celebrity contestants and their professional dancing partners put on two performances each. The first one was inspired by one of the alums' acts, while the other was an Instant Dance Challenge, for which the contestants had to come up with their moves on the spot.

For their first performance of the night, Danny and Witney drew inspiration from Dancing with the Stars season 5 alums Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough. They performed Quickstep to Royal Crown Revue's Hey Panchuco.

During the rehearsal, the Dancing with the Stars season 33 celebrity contestant told the cameras that he would use his "football quick feet" and would take it up a notch in episode 8. Derek Hough praised the performance and said that it was "bubbly" and "refreshing." He said it put a smile on the judge's face and that he loved the way the pair "reimagined" the dance.

As part of their Instant Dance Challenge, Danny and Witney performed Jive to Little Richard's Good Golly Miss Molly. Derek Hough commented on the dance and said that it was Jive was "one of the harder ones" to get as part of the challenge.

"It was so fun. I can't believe you guys did it in such short amount of time," he said.

Fans of Dancing with the Stars season 33 reacted to both the performances online and had conflicting views about how the former NFL player performed.
