"Era 1 got the short end of the sticks"— The Challenge fans react to Kyland eliminating Darrell

The Challenge season 40 aired its latest episode on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The segment saw two more Era 1 contestants get eliminated after competing against Era 4 players in an elimination challenge.

Michele defeated Tina while Kyland sent Darrell packing, bringing Era 1 down to two players. As part of the elimination task, the contestants had to make their way through a tunnel while sliding doors and removing rods. Each door had a number that the players needed to remember to solve a math equation at the end.

Although Darrell exited the tunnel first, Kyland solved the math equation first and won the task. Fans reacted to the elimination task online. One person wrote on X:

"Can we get any sorta physical challenges? We have Darrell vs Kyland and we got a math equation. I feel like era 1 got the short end of the sticks. Love the challenge but you gotta switch it up or else you’re gonna lose viewership"

The Challenge: Battle of the Eras fans praised Kyland's performance:

The Challenge: Battle of the Eras fans further said:

"Yes we tune in for the vets but the vets aint gunna be around forever so its good to see newcomers like Kyland make a name for himself. I hated the first episode where they had eras fight themselves and like this era vs era format better. CT and darrell will be missed," a person wrote.

"We are running thin"— Darrell expresses the importance of winning elimination against Kyland in The Challenge season 40

In The Challenge: Battle of the Eras episode 7, Michele went up against Tina and emerged victorious and Darrell competed against Kyland and lost. Ahead of the task, Darell spoke to the cameras about staying in the MTV show. He said it was "very important" for him to win the elimination task.

"We are hurting era 1, we are running thin. I'm not a math wizard but I'm actually decent at math so hopefully I get this W so I can stir some sh*t up in this house," Darrell said.

Kyland also expressed wanting to stay in the game and said that he had to come back to the house for his team. He added that Nia and he had been getting close and that he loved being on the MTV reality show.

Darrell was the first one out of the tunnel. Aviv from Era 2 said that the contestant was out of the box even before Kyland was done pulling the rods to clear his way. She added it could be a "huge win" for Era 1 as long as Darrell got it right in the first time.

Although Darrell was quicker, Kyland, who Derrick termed the "calculator" cracked the code first and eliminated the Era 1 player.

Fans reacted to the elimination online and were divided in their opinion.
