Love Is Blind Habibi sparked all sorts of conversation as soon as the show premiered on October 10, 2024, on Netflix. With grand backdrops, Middle Eastern nuances, and 20 singles, the show created a buzz on the internet.
The Middle Eastern spin-off tweaked a few things to make the series more relatable to local audiences but kept the thrill of closed doors and drama for the dedicated fan base. As the pods opened for the 20 Arab singles, they jumped into the social experiment to find the "One".
As the trials of the pods ended, 5 Love Is Blind Habibi couples got engaged and traveled to a luxurious resort in Dubai to spend their holidays together. One of those 5 couples was Mido and Nour, who bonded in the pods over their shared belief in responsibility sharing and honesty.
However, as the couple started spending quality time with each other in the resort, Mido felt an unease in Nour's demeanor. He felt the thrill and the excitement were missing from her side and she was seemingly not ready to put in effort.
Love Is Blind Habibi star Mido shared that they had clashing personalities and therefore, it was beneficial for both of them to part ways. During the Reunion episode, Mido was candid about regretting choosing Nour.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Mido opened up about his time from the pods to the resort, and shared what he learned from his journey on Love Is Blind Habibi. He said:
"So first of all, never settle for someone that you think, that you're mesmerized by the way they act."
He further added:
"Never settle for something like that. Get there and get into a deeper connection with them. See them when you fall and see how they are gonna be beside you or not. Because, basically, life nowadays is like a roller coaster. You can see the political side, the all over the orders, ups and downs, people getting broke, people getting rich."
Love Is Blind Habibi star Mido claims that Nour had a "misperception of understanding preferences and standards"
Q) How did you decide to find your life partner via Love Is Bind Habibi?
I've been on and off in dating life a lot. Yeah. So many people ask me, like, you're 39 years old why you're not committed and everything? So I've been in a relationship, and it was a long-term relationship. Yeah. And, due to differences in culture and religious views direction, things didn't work out when it came to the last step of marriage.
So this was the thing. And, I was like, maybe, you know, like, it's about time to connect with someone mentally with your thoughts.
Q) How did your casting happen for the Love Is Blind Habibi?
I've been cast by the team. They reached out to me. They were like, hi. How are you? Would you like to be featured in a dating show? So I was like, that sounds interesting. So, they started communicating, and asked me questions like, are you single? How's your career going? Is it stable, or not stable? Where do you live? Everything.
They checked my home and everything. And then, we had a couple of interviews face to face. They've seen me. We talked and everything. And then I signed up the contract for the show, and, I went to Love Is Blind Habibi. And, it was, a surprise for me that it's gonna be on Netflix.
Q) You and Asma connected via pods in Love Is Blind Habibi. What are your thoughts on it?
Asma is a very straightforward person. So am I. But the thing is how to deliver the message in front of the camera to everyone, this is the only thing. Maybe we didn't have this serious conversation. Every time she tried to tackle it, I was not giving her the space for it, but I did regret that. I didn't give her a chance to explain herself.
Q) During the reunion of Love Is Blind Habibi, when Chafic, Dounia, and Nour clashed, you sided with Dounia and Chafic. Why?
Dounia, I didn't have a chance to talk to her a lot, but to be honest, Dounia is a very genuine girl. She's very well raised. She is, she comes from a very, you know, like, well-raised family. She's not even trying to show off the success that she reached with 1,700,000, followers on TikTok or whatsoever.
She's still very humble and down to earth, and she goes everywhere. She's very, you know, like, very authentic, because she has the confidence to say this fits my standards, and this doesn't fit my standards.
Q) What led you to have a different perspective on the "standards" that Nour was discussing?
To be honest, there is a difference between preferences and standards. Standards in a man is that he has to have career growth. He has to be an ambitious person. These are standards. He is looking for a better education for the kids. He's looking for a better future for his wife. He's looking to, what they call it, to pamper the wife. He's looking to take the wife for, vacations and off.
The standards that she's setting are only best for her. She has a misperception of understanding preferences and standards, and she keeps talking about them in a very confident way.
Q) Ammar was quite direct with the guys that he had his sights set on Karma and told the others to keep their distance. Would you have done something similar?
See, the thing is that my takeout on this is that, it might be an Irrational decision. Oh, yes. Because when you think about it, where they have ended, they ended in different ways. Because, you know, you need to have the experiment allow you to meet 15 people. So you need to give yourself a chance to get connected with the right person.
Q) What are your thoughts on Love Is Blind Habibi's "Golden Couple" Mohammad and Safa?
Both of them are beautiful people. Mohammad Kiswani is a very, warm-hearted person. He's a very mature person. His sense of humor is something else. He's, like, a husband and a comedian. When he's at home, he's a very responsible person.
Safa is a very decent person. She's a very mature person when it comes to thoughts and the way she delivers messages. She's very smart. She made the right choice. They are successful, and I think it was a very good choice for both of them.
Q) What do you consider your greatest lesson from your experience on Love Is Blind Habibi?
It's 2 things. Well, of course. First of all, how to handle, negative, opinions. This was very important for me. I'm a Virgo. Virgos are very emotional and sensitive. So, at the beginning, I was, like, very sensitive about the comments. And then later on, I figured out that, you know, sometimes people don't know you, and you don't need to take it very personally.
The other point is that you need to always confront, hear, listen, entertain, adapt, and resolve because it's a very important point to hear what the people want to say. That's right. You cannot build, a decision based on your, mind, call, or idea or whatsoever.
Q) Did you have any doubts about finding your life partner through pods in Love Is Blind Habibi?
I don't know. I had a feeling, to be honest, that I was gonna match with someone. Because I have two sides to myself, which are the funny part and, the reasonable man who is understanding and understands about life and everything. So, I did have a thought that I'm gonna match with someone.
And that's why each time I was coming in the pod I was giving 100 percent. But to be honest, the 100 percent went in a very wrong way.
Q) What led you to understand that Nour isn't the "One" for you?
See, the thing is when you have actual feelings and warm feelings for someone, they light up your eyes. You can see the excitement in their eyes because the eyes speak everything.
So, when I came to the resort and we started communicating and facing each other, I saw that she was cold. You understand? I told her, if something is wrong, you can tell me, you can speak it up. I asked her, tell me what are you looking for? I can help you out if you're not feeling comfortable. She didn't want to say that, "I didn't wanna match with you."
Probably she wanted to stay more, and it seems like it. And this is what I said actually in the reunion, that she wanted to stay more probably just to show people that, I'm the queen, which was again her direction of presenting "herself".
Q) Are there any behind-the-scenes moments that you would like to share with the audience about Love Is Blind Habibi or perhaps your journey?
Yeah. Nour sent me a message after I left her in the resort. Probably nobody knows this, and I didn't mention it even at the Love Is Blind Habibi reunion. Let me tell you. She sent me a message apologizing about the way she represented herself, and, she wanted to talk to me, and she even invited me for her birthday.
And, she was like, I wanna meet you and talk to you and explain myself and everything. And yeah. And that was it.
Q) How would you choose to summarize your experience of Love is Blind Habibi?
It's a journey to find a lifetime companion and someone who supports you in everything and is beside you until the end of your journey. So settle for someone who loves your soul, loves your heart, and loves everything about you. It's not only the bad things.
They love the bad things because you know how to solve them. They love the good things because it makes them happy. And the most important part is that you find someone who accepts who you are, inside out.
Love Is Blind Habibi is streaming on Netflix now.
