Season 26 of The Voice released its latest episode on Monday, September 30, 2024. The Blind Auditions, Part 2, saw another set of contestants taking on the stage, hoping to make at least one coach press their button.
During Monday's episode, coaches Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, and Michael Bublé clashed while scouting for talented artists. Each used their unique tactics to convince contestants to join their team. Reba found herself blocked, while Snoop Dogg was moved by one to press the Coach Replay button.
One contestant stood out, compelling all four judges to turn their chairs for him. 34-year-old Austyns Stancil wowed them and the audience with his rendition of Smokey Robinson's Ooo Baby Baby. After Austyn's performance ended, the coaches went against one another, hoping to influence the contestant's decision. In the end, Austyns asked Gwen to be his mentor.
Fans of The Voice took to X to praise his act and vocal abilities.
"Wow, Austyns has fantastic range! Four chair turn and Gwen got him," a fan wrote.
"Wow Austyns. Four Chair Turn!!!" another fan commented.
"Austyns got a four-chair turn!" a netizen tweeted.
Many fans of The Voice complimented Austyns' range and his musicality. They claimed that he deserved the four-chair turn, and had the potential to win the show.
"Austins could win this. That range! 4 chairs turned, too," a user reacted.
"I love Austyns's voice!! Beautiful!! He didn't have a strong start, but halfway through that song, which is one of my mom's favorites, he did AWESOME!" a person commented.
"Austyns Stancil blowing kissing to the crowd, showmanship, starting high up in his falsetto, clean and clear. Great breath support and then some really impressive highs. Chills! Very impressive," one user tweeted.
However, some fans thought Austyns made the wrong choice by picking Gwen as his coach on The Voice.
"Oh Austyns you picked the worst person," a person reacted.
"Austyns, Gwen is gonna drop you in the battle rounds for rowdy," another netizen commented.
The Voice contestant Austyns Stancil dedicated his performance to his late father
34-year-old Oakland resident, Austyns dedicated his performance to his late father, who passed away in 2023. He also dedicated it to his three daughters, saying, "They motivate me." Before stepping out onto the stage, Austyns shared that his father showed him how to be a man and a father. He wished his dad was there to watch him perform.
He not only wanted to make his late father proud but also set an example for his daughters.
"I gotta get a Chair turn," Austyns said.
Although it took a minute for the coaches to press their buttons, he ultimately got all four to turn. Austyn's mother, Christine, and brother, CJ, cheered from the sidelines as the coaches started hitting their buttons one after the other.
Austyns admitted that his mother introduced him to music. Christine was a director at a church in Paola, Kansas, who needed a soloist. She eventually asked Austyns to take on the role, marking the beginning of his journey with music.
Mesmerized by his audition on The Voice, Michael wondered what his voice was capable of. He complimented Austyns' ability to glide between the high and low registers. Meanwhile, Gwen said:
"You're so good in each part of your voice. That made me turn. It's technically great, but how do we find who you are? I think that's something I could help you with if you were on Team Gwen."
Reba tried to convince Austyns by flaunting her season 25 victory. On the other hand, Snoop Dogg attempted to outperform everyone's campaigns by delivering a rhyme.
"Now that you've heard the rest, you can hear from the best. Nonetheless, you could be with the 'S' and have his [holding up the Death Roow Records necklace] layin' on your chest," he said.
Ultimately, Gwen convinced The Voice contestant to join Team Gwen, citing her nine-year experience with the show. Although Snoop Dogg lost Austyns to Gwen, he was not discouraged, He looked forward to stealing him in the coming episodes.
