Love is Blind Mexico discovered whether love truly was blind on Thursday, August 15, 2024. While one couple tied the knot, one decided to continue dating and two said 'No" at the altar. Both Gerardo and Fernanda didn't want to get married, but the situation was a little more complicated for Rene and Irais as the latter wanted to be the male cast member's wife.

Rene had a different point of view and said no at the altar. Recalling their turbulent time on the show, fans took to social media and chimed in on Rene's decision not to get married in the season finale. One person wrote on X:

"What!!! I am lowkey feeling sorry for Irais. She went through all that process to get Rene back just for him to say no at the alter. I was 80% sure they would get married #Loveisblindmexico"

Love is Blind Mexico season finale: Rene says no at the altar

In Love is Blind Mexico Episode 9, Irais' father walked her down the aisle where Rene waited to take her hand. She read her vows, which stated that they were "destined" to meet while on the social experiment and "forever connect" their stories.

"You were my first date in the pods and will forever be my last. I love you," she said.

Rene also read his letter and promised to care for her "heart" before his own. The Love is Blind Mexico star said their story was just beginning and told her he loved her. However, when they were asked whether they wanted to get married, Rene said no.

He said that although he had found someone wonderful and magical, he wasn't ready to take that step. Rene explained that they had a "long road" ahead but he couldn't lie to her or himself. The Love is Blind Mexico star stated he wanted to tell her "face-to-face".

Maria, Irais' mother chimed in on the situation and said that although there were tears in her daughter's eyes, she wasn't worried. She said she could see that Irais was at "peace." She told Irais that regardless of what happened, she was there for her.

"Sometimes love is unexpected, and these things also happen in real life," Irais said in a confessional.

Later in the season finale, Rene explained that even though he didn't think the timing was right, he believed she was the right person for him. Irais asked him why he said no and the Love is Blind Mexico male star said there were a few reasons. He said he would have liked for his father to attend the wedding and said it was a difficult decision to make but he didn't want to lie and fail her.
