Hell's Kitchen being on season 23 is a testament to its popularity, and that of its host and judge, Gordon Ramsey. The newest season made it to episode 5 on October 24. After a pickling challenge last week, episode 5 documented the contestants sweating it out in a burger challenge.
For the challenge, the contestants had to choose from a select few ingredients that Chef Ramsey threw their way. Both Red and Blue Teams had to stick to these ingredients while making their burgers and succeed at it to stay in the competition.
Since the Blue Team had one less contestant, Chef Ramsey asked one of their contestants to volunteer and make 2 burgers to even off the score chart. Kyle stepped up as he saw this as an advantage to get at least one burger rated highly out of the two, but he failed because both of his burgers failed to impress the Chef.
Fans of Hell's Kitchen took to X to react to this. Some rooted for Kyle, while others criticized him for going wrong with both his burgers.
"Oops. Kyle now forgot an ingredient for his dish," said one fan.
"Kyle couldn't get ONE OUT OF TWO?WTF?" said another fan.
Kyle is not going to be able to do it..," a third one added.
"Oh damn, Kyle forgot something. Do we need to add that to the Hell's Kitchen bingo card? Cause it happened last week with someone else," another wrote.
Some fans of Hell's Kitchen also hoped Kyle got through the challenge while it was still on, while some rooted for him even after he got low scores.
"Damn Kyle was quick. Let's hope he can do both perfectly," an X user added.
"Kyle..You're a Top 5 Chef this Season," another X user commented.
"Hang in there, Kyle," another chimed in.
"I was literally holding my breath over Kyle's lamb!" a fan wrote.
The scoreboard in Hell's Kitchen episode 5 season 23
Episode 23 was a blessing for the contestants, majorly for Kyle, because no one was eliminated in this episode. He would have been at risk because out of his two burgers, his Lamb burger went up against Whit's Lamb burger and he lost to her.
His second burger, the Dry Aged Beef Burger, did slightly better because it tied with that of Brittany's, but it didn't score either of them any points.
Kyle cost his Blue Team two points, which made them lose against the Red team, with a total score of 4-3. Others to perform poorly in the Blue Team were Lulu and Joe, who lost against Meghan and Hannah respectively, for Chicken burger and Short Rib burger respectively.
Brandon, with his Bison burger, defeated Ann Marie, while Anthony defeated Amanda with his Pork burger. Egypt tied with Megali over the Venison burger, losing them another point.
As a reward, the Red Team got to go bowling at Foxwoods High Roller Luxury Lanes. The Blue Team remained in the kitchen, rolling patties for the dinner service upcoming that night. They had to break down 100 pounds of meat, and then grind it manually.
As for Kyle, Chef Gordon pulled him aside at the dinner service to compliment how well-cooked his lamb was in the competition earlier.
New episodes of Hell's Kitchen season 23 come out on Thursdays, at 8 pm ET, on FOX.
