"Grammy level" — The Voice fans react to Aliyah vs. Sofronio's Battles performance

Season 26 of The Voice aired its newest episode on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. It featured the fourth night of the Battles as contestants returned to the stage to compete head-to-head for a spot in the next round of the show. At the end of their performances, the coaches would have to select one singer from each matchup to advance to the Knockouts, unfortunately eliminating the other.

The remaining mentors could press the Steal button to bring the eliminated singer on their team in case they saw potential in them. That way, they could revive their time on the show.

Coach Michael paired Sofronio Vasques with Aliyah Khaylyn on Night 4 of the Battles and had them sing Celine Dion's The Power of Love. The singers' power-packed performance moved the coaches, leaving Michael with a tough decision. While he could only save one singer, he hoped the other got stolen by someone else.

After Michael declared Sofronio the Battle's winner, coach Snoop Dogg wasted no time stealing Aliyah for his team. The Voice fans took to X to compliment Sofronio and Aliyah's duet. Meanwhile, some praised the rapper for saving Aliyah.

Some fans of The Voice claimed Sofronio outperformed Aliyah even though the latter was equally good.

The Voice season 26: What did coaches say about Aliyah and Sofronio's Battles performance?

Aliyah and Sofronio sang The Power of Love by Celine Dion. The coaches were blown away by their singing skills, wondering who Michael would keep on his team. While reviewing the singers, Snoop Dogg said:

"It wasn't about competing...You allowed each other to have those moments to stretch out, and then the hands at the end was beautiful. it looked like y'all belong together. It really hit me in the heart, it touched me."

Reba McEntire agreed with the rapper, complimenting the duo's ability to captivate the audience. She deemed their performance the best of the episode. The Voice coach applauded their "unique voices," confessing their singing gave her "chills."

Michael regretted pitting "two of the strongest singers" against each other. However, he was certain who took the limelight and hoped "this goes the way I want it to go." He announced Sofronio as the winner of the Battle, ending Aliyah's journey on The Voice.

However, Snoop Dogg hit his Steal button before she could leave the stage, welcoming Aliyah on his team. He explained his decision, saying:

"Aliyah, she was able to stand in there with Sofronio, bar for bar, note for note...She was holding her own, so I felt like she deserved to be with my team, because I can give her exactly what she needs."
