"Hate y'all"— The Challenge fans react to the show's Christmas break

The Challenge: Battle of the Eras (season 40) was set to air a brand new episode this week on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. The episode was supposed to be the season finale but the show went on a break for the holidays and will now air its season finale on January 1, 2025.

Fans of the MTV reality competition took to social media to express their displeasure about the show's holiday season break.

"Wtf??? Hate y'all so much," one person wrote on X.

"Just air it and get this long a** season over with. No one wants to be watching this zero drama show for 6 months," a fan commented.

"Season 41 is gonna be a full 12 months. This is ridiculous @MTV," a tweet read.

Fans of The Challenge: Battle of the Eras felt season 40 was being dragged out:

"Yall need to capitalize on momentum and shorter seasons imo. This season has been good but, you constantly are fighting against yourself with keeping it on Wednesdays and dragging out seasons. Movie The Challenge to Tuesdays next year and on," a person wrote.

"Honestly WTF. I love the show and have been loving the season. But y'all are really screwing up the schedule. This is now the 3rd time we've gone a week without an episode. That's seriously unacceptable. No wonder people are saying ratings are down," a fan commented.

"There's no excuse for a season to start in August but we have Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks from episodes. It's ridiculous," a tweet read.

Fans of The Challenge season 40 further said:

"The challenge really milking this season. This may be the last time I watch one live. We gotta wait another week. & they probably not going to do next week either," a person wrote.

"Tonight, another week with no new episode of #TheChallenge40...The 2-part finale airs Jan 1 and Jan 8. Followed by a 2-part reunion. Meaning this season will have been airing for 5 months and 1 week. Merry Christmas to you all!!" a fan commented.

What happened in The Challenge: Battle of the Eras episode 17?

In last week's episode of The Challenge season 40, titled, Location Change Era, the cast made their way to the Philippines to compete in their next challenge. However, before the task, TJ let the cast know that four contestants, namely, Jordon, Kyland, Bananas, and Derek, had made it to the finals since the upcoming elimination would be a woman's.

Despite being finalists, the men had to compete in the daily challenge and whoever came in last would receive a penalty during the final task. The contestants had to race to the top of a fortress and bring 40 bricks down, two at a time, while carrying planks on their way back to the top. In The Challenge season 40 episode 17, contestants used the planks to make a puzzle.

Since Cara Maria Sorbello lost the previous daily challenge, she received a three-minute penalty in episode 17. For the men, Kyland collected all the puzzle pieces first and was ahead of Jordon. However, he wasn't able to see the puzzle lines which set him back.

Jordon won the challenge while Johnny Bananas finished second, Kyland was third and Derek was last. For the women, Jenny finished the task first, while Rachel was in second place. Cara Maria finished third and Tori and Michele came in last. Since Tori Deal was the last person to finish the task, she went into elimination and as the winner of the daily challenge, Jordon chose to send in Cara Maria to compete against her.

Cara Maria was eliminated from The Challenge season 40 ahead of the finale last week on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

Fans of the reality show commented on the show being on a break due to Christmas online and were upset.
