Love Island USA season 6 crowned its winners on Sunday, July 21, 2024. During the finale segment, Serena and Kordell received the most votes from America and became the winners of the show and the recipients of $100,000.
Although the two became a couple on Day 1, Casa Amor put their relationship to the ultimate test and the two briefly separated while on the show. Kordell had formed a connection with Daia McGhee and brought her back to the main villa to couple up with her.
Serena was sent clips of what Kordell had been up to and it upset the female islander. However, during the post-Casa Amor recoupling ceremony, she chose to remain "single and vulnerable" instead of pairing up with any of the newcomers, and didn't want to be with Kordell either.
Recently, Love Island USA season 6 finalist Miguel Hirachi spoke to Rolling Stone magazine about his time on the Peacock show and commented on the events of Casa Amor. While speaking about the winning couple and the hiccup they faced due to Kordell's behavior in Casa, Miguel said:
"Kordell was honest and upfront about every little detail that had happened in Casa, he was mad apologetic, he stayed calm, and then he actually allowed himself to get heated for a little bit. Sometimes you have to be like, “This is what happened. This is how I feel. I apologize.""
Love Island USA season 6 runner-up Miguel Hirachi opens up about Casa Amor
During the conversation with Rolling Stone, Miguel chimed in on his time in Casa Amor. He added that he saw being in the new villa as a way to "test the waters" and see how true his feelings towards Leah were. He wanted to know whether it was more than just "infatuation."
The Love Island USA season 6 finalist added that although he enjoyed getting to know Sierra, he kept thinking about Leah, which was surprising for him.
"I even said to the guys a fair amount of times, “I’m really thrown off at the fact that I’m thinking more and more of Leah each day.” However, just because I was thinking of her, I still wanted to know whether the feelings were genuine," Miguel added.
The islander also chimed in on other people's behavior while in Casa Amor and believed that Aaron's time in the new villa "portrayed him in a bad image."
He said as a couple, he thought Aaron and Kaylor were "sweet and genuine" together but there was a "lack of communication" between the Love Island USA season 6 couple.
Miguel noted that he didn't think Aaron withheld information from Kaylor on purpose, and may have simply "forgotten" certain things that happened. Miguel added that Aaron and Kaylor not making it to the finale "was a bit of a shock" at first but it started making sense later on.
The Love Island USA season 6 bombshell compared Aaron and Kaylor's situation to Kordell and Serena's. For the unversed, Aaron made a connection with Daniela while in Casa Amor but didn't bring her back as his partner.
However, Rob coupled up with her and included her in the cast. Kordell, on the other hand, paired up with Daia and brought her back to the villa.
Miguel said that Kordell's plan of action of apologizing and acknowledging Serena's hurt feelings before him asking her to listen to his side of the story "outshined" Kaylor and Aaron's situation.
For the unversed, after Casa Amor, both Serena and Kaylor chose to stay single and put themselves at risk instead of coupling up with their partners. However, they later resolved their issues and got back together with Kordell and Aaron respectively.
Daniela was eliminated on Day 27 while Aaron and Kaylor were dumped on Day 30 from the villa. Kordell and Serena went on to win the show.
Episodes of Love Island USA season 6 are available to stream on Peacock.
