The Golden Bachelorette star Charles L. lost his wife six years ago
In episode 3, viewers saw Charles L. address his wife's passing and finally muster the courage to confront his feelings and seek closure. His wife's sudden passing haunted him for the past six years since he could pinpoint the cause of her death. Although doctors claimed it was a brain aneurysm, The Golden Bachelorette cast member still had questions about how and why her sudden death happened.
One of his main questions was why he saw blood coming from her mouth after she collapsed. To find the answers to his questions, Charles L. sought Guy's help. Guy is an ER doctor and the only person in the mansion who could provide Charles L. with some answers.
"When she fell to the ground, she probably bit her tongue. That had nothing to do with [the aneurysm]," Guy explained.
When Charles L. wondered if he was asking meaningless and "silly" questions, Guy reassured him that his concern and curiosity regarding his wife's death were valid since it was a big loss for him. The Golden Bachelorette cast member urged Charles L. to move on because there was nothing anyone could have done.
Charles L. expressed his gratitude to Guy for comforting and supporting him. That said, he was ready to embark on a journey to find love.
"I'm hopeful to find love through this journey, but in the meantime, I hope I will see a new version of myself," he said.
Later, Charles L. pulled the Golden Bachelorette for a one-on-one conversation, where he told her about his conversation with Guy. He admitted it changed his life because he often blamed himself for her death. Back at the mansion, before the rose ceremony, Charles L. showed Joan a photo of him and his wife that he carried with him. The Golden Bachelorette Joan appreciated him for sharing his doubts and sadness.
Soon, Charles L. received a rose from Joan and advanced into the next week alongside Guy, Dan, Gary, Jordan, Chock, Keith, Mark, Pascal, Jonathan, and Gil. However, the journey was cut short for CK, Gregg, and Kim.
The Golden Bachelorette airs Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
