One of the popular singing reality shows, The Voice, commenced another season on NBC in late September. The latest season 26 is already subject to media frenzy because of its stellar audition performances and the quirks of two new coaches adding to the mix.
Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg's addition to the original coaches Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani wasn't only applauded by the viewers but also welcomed by the coaches.
Talking to Access Hollywood on October 19, 2024, about how she felt about Michael's inclusion on the panel, Gwen expressed her approval of the new coach by revealing Bublé's friendship with her husband, Blake Shelton, who is also a singer and former coach of the show. She said:
"I knew Michael was great, because him and Blake are besties".
What did Gwen Stefani say about her The Voice co-coach Michael Bublé's friendship with Blake Shelton?
Access Hollywood went to the sets of The Voice to get exclusive insiders on the coaches. The 55-year-old pop star, who has sat in the red chair of The Voice for her eighth season now, shared how she was bonding with the new judges on board.
While reflecting on her relationship with Michael Bublé, Gwen explained her familiarity with the singer by referring to his friendship with her husband, Blake Shelton, whom she married in 2021. She said that the two were best friends and that Blake loved him. She said:
"And every time he comes up [when] they text or whatever, [Blake says], ‘I love that kid.’ ‘I love that guy.’ Blake loves him".
Blake Shelton and Michael Bublé have known each other for a long time. One of the most iconic moments the two of them shared was when they sang Home by Michael Bublé together at a live concert. The superhit song was released by Bublé in 2005, which Shelton re-released as a cover in his album in 2007.
Both versions received widespread acclaim. So when Bublé invited Shelton to a 2008 live concert and sang it with him in a perfect duet, it went down in history.
Gwen thinks Snoop Dogg may find The Voice battles difficult and reflects on her friendship with Reba
Gwen also talked about her notions on the other judges including another newest addition, Snoop Dogg. Referring to the star's The Voice debut as a coach, Gwen said that he might find The Battleground part of the show difficult to deal with. She explained that sending people home "sucked" and made them question themselves.
She said that because Snoop was such a nice person he was having a hard time critiquing the contestants. She added that he was very spiritual so he always wanted to bring out the good in people. She added that the idea of saying something bad about someone upsetted him so he would never do it.
Every time Gwen came back to the coaching panel on The Voice, she was met with a new coach. It was her second year coaching with Reba so they already had some bonding. Gwen talked about this while talking about their relationship and added that she felt like she had started to get to know her not just as a person but also as a coach.
New episodes of The Voice season 26 are released on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm ET, on NBC.
