"History made": Love Island UK fans elated by Mimii and Josh's victory

Love Island UK season 11 aired its season finale on July 29, 2024, and crowned Josh and Mimii as the winners. Meanwhile, the other finalists for the "Summer in Spain" were Ciaran and Nicole, Matilda and Sean, and Jessica and Ayo.

Mimii and Josh became the first-ever black couple to win a season in the show's history. They walked away with a grand prize of £50,000, or roughly about $64,000, upon conversion.

Fans of the show took to social media to celebrate Mimii and Josh's win, highlighting the fact that they were the show's first black couple to win. Many claimed that the couple made history with their win, with one person saying:

Fans took to X to celebrate the winners, as many claimed that love was a "beautiful thing," and others called Josh and Mimii the "best couple." Some fans also exclaimed that the couple deserved to win, as others said that after a "lot of disappointing winners," Mimii and Josh were their winners.

Mimii and Josh win Love Island UK season 11

Love Island UK season 11 premiered on June 3, 2024, and wrapped up on July 29, 2024. As the show progressed, the contestants found their love connections. While some couples were strong from the beginning, others were tested and switched partners until the show found its final four couples.

Mimii joined the show on Day 1 and was initially paired up with Munveer. She was paired with him after the islanders ranked each other based on "Most to Least" partner material. Following that, those with the same ranking of the opposite gender became couples.

However, on Day 5, Mimii was left single after Munveer coupled with Patsy. and on Day 8, she coupled up with Ayo, and the two remained a couple until Week 5. As part of the Casa Amor twist, Ayo coupled up with Jessica, which left Mimii single once again.

However, Mimii found herself a new partner soon when Josh entered the villa on Day 36, and on Day 58, the two were voted the winners of Love Island UK season 11.

Watching the finale episode back, fans of the British dating reality show took to social media to celebrate the cast members' win. They took into consideration that the couple became the first ever black couple to win the show in over 11 seasons.
