The Real Housewives of Potomac season 9 episode 13 was released on Sunday, January 5, 2025. The episode, titled Rum-ble in the Jungle, saw Mia worrying about her children as their father, Gordon, had picked them up without her knowledge. Mia grew anxious not knowing where her children were or what they were doing. Jacqueline tried to help Mia's situation and prevent her from having a mental breakdown.
After a while, Jacqueline contacted Mia's former nanny's daughter, who revealed Gordon had dropped the children off at her place. Mia then breathed a sense of relief and continued with her day. However, the other housewives were not on board with her decisions.
Although Ashley sympathized with Mia, she struggled to believe her story completely. While talking to the cameras, she explained that she struggled to trust Mia because of the discrepancies in her stories about Gordon, which praised his character in one moment, and criticized his actions in the next.
Similarly, The Real Housewives of Potomac fans struggled to believe Mia because her take on Gordon changed every time she spoke about him. They claimed Mia was putting on an act for her storyline. Some even criticized Mia for not leaving Panama to look for her children despite not knowing where they were. They took to X to express their views.
"Mia & Jacqueline are horrible actresses. They both look like fools with this fake "missing kids" storyline. Mia seemed mostly concerned with performing for the cameras & Jacqueline wasn't committed. Horrible performance; I hate the producers for enabling this mess," a fan wrote.
"We've seen Mia flip when Gizelle & Karen brought up her kids at the hat party. So, being calm about not knowing where they are for 2 hrs seems very suspicious. That was too short-lived. I think she knew where they were the whole time," another fan commented.
"Why do I feel like Mia is exaggerating about not knowing where her kids were?" a netizen tweeted.
Many fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac struggled to believe the authenticity of Mia's situation, as one even claimed that it looked "planned."
"And then Jacqueline conveniently planted the seed with Ashley, the second messiest chick on the bus, about how Mia’s kids were “missing for two hours”?Yeah, it’s giving planned storyline," a user reacted.
"Mia needs to go. She knows where her children are this is all for show," a person commented.
"Mia done lied so much that I’m desensitized by her tears! I don’t even believe that story with the kids, that’s how unmoved I am about her & them LIESSSS SHE TELLS!!!" another fan wrote.
"I don't believe this Mia & Jacqueline the kids are missing thing. They lie way too much," one user posted.
Other fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac criticized Mia for not leaving the retreat to look for her children.
"Mia weren’t your kids missing? Wouldn’t you want to go see the first? A WHOLE LIE WAS TOLD!!" a person reacted.
"I try not to question people’s mothering but if I can’t reach my kids I’m taking my mic off and getting on to get them Hell even after I know where my kids are I’m going to get them not letting them stay there Once again Mia isn’t protecting her kids over a show," another netizen commented.
"Just trying to get the heat off of her" — The Real Housewives of Potomac's Ashley comments on Mia's situation
After Mia discovered that her children were in the care of their former nanny, she was relieved. While speaking to the cameras, The Real Housewives of Potomac star revealed she had a close relationship with the former nanny, who had played her mother's role during her wedding to Gordon. Despite feeling assured, Mia was critical of Gordon's "foul" decision not to tell her about the children.
When Mia reunited with the other housewives, she told them her children were safe. However, she complained about Gordon's behavior, criticizing him for not returning her phone calls. Upon hearing that, Ashley took to a confessional to express concern over Mia's statements about Gordon.
"I will tell y'all if that were me, I probably would've left the trip. I think that she's just trying to get the heat off of her," The Real Housewives of Potomac star added.
Later in the episode, Wendy told Mia that letting Gordon be around the children was not "best for them. Karen agreed with Wendy recalling when her ex-partner took her child for a "joy ride" without her knowledge.
She revealed she wasted no time calling 911 and drove three hours to get her son. Since Mia had full custody of her children, Karen hoped she would act more assertively.
