"Horrid" — The Traitors UK fans react to Maia's murder

The third installment of The Traitors UK returned with a new episode on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. It not only saw Kasim's banishment but also Maia's "murder." Secret Traitors Linda and Minah plotted to take out Maia in the quiet of the night, claiming that it made sense to eliminate her from the competition since no one suspected her of being a Traitor.

The previous episode showcased Maia breaking down after witnessing her elder sister and secret Traitor, Armani's eviction. The cast members rightly assumed Maia was a Faithful after noticing how surprised and hurt she was by the revelation of Armani's role. Although Maia had doubts, she had not expected Armani to be one of the conspirators.

Moreover, "murdering" Maia would help Minah and Linda put Freddie under suspicion since Minah had accused him of being a Traitor last week.

Consequently, Maia was "murdered" shortly after Armani was evicted. The Traitors UK fans took to X to share their opinions of Maia's "murder." While many claimed it was difficult to watch her leave right after her sister's elimination, others were surprised by the conspirator's decision.

"Nah. Not Maia snaking her sister then getting murdered. Horrid," a fan wrote.

"it was the obvious choice but i feel bad for maia. she really had no way to get out of this situation, her fate was tied to her sister's," another fan commented.

"They banished Armani and murdered Maia? these traitors are ruthless!" a netizen tweeted.

Many fans of The Traitors UK disapproved of the conspirators' decision to evict Maia.

"Omg they actually killed off Maia right after her sister got banished. That is actually so cruel," a user reacted.

In contrast, other fans of The Traitors UK praised Minah and Linda's gameplay.

"Getting rid of two sisters in one day" — The Traitors UK star Minah plots with Linda to eliminate Maia

After noticing Maia's absence at the breakfast table, the cast members realized she was "murdered" during the night. While most were surprised, Leanne voiced her frustration, saying it was "mean" of the conspirators to eliminate Maia right after she watched her elder sister get banished.

Regardless of the cast's reactions, Minah and Linda knew Maia's eviction was necessary. It would work in their favor, helping them keep their identities concealed. They decided to target her because no one else would, and it would also help them cement their suspicion of Freddie.

"And, wouldn't it be interesting getting rid of two sisters in one day? One murdered, one banished?" Minah asked.

As a result of their efforts, Maia was shown the door shortly after Armani's exit. Reflecting on her gameplay, the Traitors UK evictee confessed that if she was given another chance, she would stick to her original plan of "not putting too much emotion" into the game.

In a BBC Sounds YouTube video, titled Traitor reveal: Maia and Kasim | The Traitors: Uncloaked, released on January 9, 2025, Maia and Kasim discovered the identities of the real Traitors. Before the disclosure, Maia revealed that she suspected Anna and Freddie, unaware that both her guesses were incorrect.

She was shocked to find out that Minah and Linda were the two conspirators.

"I have never been so wrong before in my whole life," she said.
