"I didn’t feel excited": Too Hot To Handle season 6 star Charlie explains breaking up with Lucy for Katherine

Too Hot To Handle season 6 aired episodes 5, 6, and 7 on Friday, July 26, 2024. During the segment, the cast members were seen switching it up as several people who paired up with different partners in the previous episodes were coupled up with someone else.

After Charlie expressed interest in Katherine, they broke up with Lucy and Louis, respectively, and pursued a connection. Although Louis took the news well, Lucy broke down in tears several times onscreen since Charlie didn't give her the complete information, that is, he didn't tell her he wanted to pursue a connection with Katherine.

The season 6 male cast member recently explained his decision to pick Katherine over Lucy while in conversation with US Weekly and said he couldn't pinpoint a moment where he realized he wanted Katherine and not Lucy. Comparing the connections he felt with the two women, he stated:

"I think in the position I’m in now, I consider and say that a relationship has to make you grow and it has to excite you. I think that very quickly when I was with Lucy, I felt very safe, very tied down, and I didn’t feel excited in that situation, whereas when I was with Kat, even the conversation was exciting to me."

"More of a vibe thing": Too Hot To Handle star Charlie opens up about connecting with Katherine LaPrell in season 6

In a recent interview with US Weekly, which was published on July 26, 2024, Charlie Jeer opened up about his relationship with Lucy Syed and Katherine LaPrell.

The Too Hot To Handle season 6 contestant said that while he couldn't "pinpoint" an instance where he realized his feelings for Katherine, there were a lot of things that didn't make it to the edit. He added that there was a lot of "downtime" during the retreat where people were "doing their own things."

"In those times, it was literally just more of a vibe thing that I was getting with Kat. I was actually catching myself (being) not too interested in spending loads of time with Lucy, and that's nothing against her at all," Charlie said.

The Too Hot To Handle season 6 cast member added that he had to "just follow that impulse" and give it a shot with Katherine. He added that once he realized that he had feelings for the female cast member and that Lucy wasn't the right match for him. He went and did what he had to.

Charlie further said that since the Too Hot To Handle cast had a short while in the retreat, he had to act on his feelings "straightaway" and also listed the lack of physical intimacy as one of the reasons why he was not as attracted to Lucy.

The season 6 participant said that he spoke to Lucy and told her that not having a physical relationship was making it "harder" for him to be sure about their relationship.

"That’s just because in the past that was kind of a way that I was connecting with people, but it’s less about the physicality and whether or not we were kissing and doing the most, and it’s more about did we really feel like we really wanted to do that in that situation?" he added.

For the unversed, in Too Hot To Handle season 6, Charlie and Lucy were coupled up till episode 6. However, even before the two split, the male cast member had an issue with Lucy following Lana's rules and not initiating a physical relationship.

In episode 5, Charlie expressed interest in Katherine and the two got together in the following segment. Although Katherine was honest with Louis about wanting to pursue Charlie, the latter omitted the information while breaking up with Lucy.
