Episodes 7 to 9 of Love is Blind season 7 were released on October 9, after the initial 6 episodes premiered on October 2. The second installment of the episodes documented 6 couples transitioning from their honeymoons in Mexico, back to the US to start living together, as they prepared for the big day.
Marissa and Ramses were among the couples who shifted to their co-living and continued to know each other. In episode 7, when the two of them sat down for dinner they discussed their preferences for the officiants of the ceremony.
Marissa shared that when she was younger she thought she was going to get married in a Mormon temple. This was when Ramses demanded to know the point she decided religion wasn't going to be a part of her life. She said:
"I don't hate religion. I guess it sounds like I hate religion. But when God is white in a church and you're taught white beliefs when it comes to religion, you start to believe a lot of those things."
"It's very much men-centric"- Love is Blind season 7 star Marissa discusses religion with Ramses in episode 7
Ramses wanted to know Marissa's preferences for marriage in Love is Blind season 7 episode 7. He asked her the same when they sat down to eat the noodles Ramses cooked. He asked Marissa if she wanted a religious officiant, a non-religious one, or a spiritual one.
Marissa started by stating that she would want a female officiant and added that she meant no offense to the male ones. Ramses echoed her feelings and said, "No cis-heteros," and Marissa agreed. She then said she wanted someone spiritual and added:
"God can take a back seat."
This is when Ramses joked that his mom would be "choking" if she heard that. He then explained that his mom was a devout Christian and if they went through with the ceremony without any Christian elements, his mom would be sad.
Marissa understood that their marriage was not only for them but also for their families, so she asked Ramses if they should ask his mom what she thought of their preferences. Ramses reassured her and said that his mom would be happy doing a small prayer before they walked down the aisle.
This is when Marissa shared in Love is Blind that she kept away from religion as it catered to a specific race and catered to their beliefs. She also added:
"It's very much men-centric, and, like... especially the Mormon Church".
Ramses empathized with her and said that he understood where she came from. Marissa added that some of the "nicest people" she ever met in her life were Mormon people from the church and that it helped her in some of the very difficult parts of her life.
Having said that, she also added that she didn't want religion to be a part of her Love is Blind marriage. Ramses shared that he was in the ministry so he knew the workings of the churches behind the scenes. He said he grew up in churches all his life and saw that they followed the "Fire and Brimstone," which meant either one has to "believe it or go to hell".
He said his inherent nature made him question things but he thought that there might be a version of the Christian God somewhere. He said if he were to die and stand before a God, he didn't think God would judge him for having questions. The conversation then drifted off to the movies they had to watch together and Marissa's views about her military career.
New episodes of Love is Blind season 7 come out on October 16, on Netflix.
