"I could not get him off"— Bronwyn Newport recalls how a dog attack left her with numerous injuries

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Bronwyn Newport recalled details of the vicious dog attack that left her with serious injuries, including 37 puncture wounds in both her arm and legs. The incident happened back in April, but she only gave an exclusive play-by-play of what happened in an article published by People on Friday, December 13.

The RHOSLC newcomer explained how she sustained her injuries from the attack, saying:

"He did bite me behind the leg. He got me on the other side of my calf. As I tried to pull away, he got my other leg on the thigh. I think at that point I must have leaned forward or was trying to push him away. He ended up getting my right arm, where my bicep is, very badly and clamped onto my arm. I could not get him off."

Bronwyn Newport said she was walking one of her six dogs at the dog park then, and another dog was running around in the area. She mentioned that the dog wasn't barking and that nothing seemed weird.

However, she also noted that the dog was alone. Since nothing seemed weird at the time, Newport said that she reached out to pet the dog but that it made a "weird kind of skid move" and jerked away from her.

Shortly after, Bronwyn Newport recalled the dog suddenly circling and lunging towards her.

Bronwyn Newport admits that she "totally freaked out" during the dog attack

In her exclusive interview with People, Bronwyn Newport detailed how she reacted when a random dog lunged toward her at the dog park. She admitted that she was calm at first, saying:

"I know you're not supposed to scream, you're not supposed to jerk your arm. I did all those things."

However, Newport admitted that the attack freaked her out, especially because it was the first time she experienced being bitten by a dog. She said:

"I totally freaked out. I'd never been bitten by a dog before. I totally lost my mind, and I honestly think I made it worse."

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star said that a bystander at the dog park helped intervene to get the dog off her. Police and an ambulance were called, and she had to go to the hospital after that.

Bronwyn Newport recalled her injuries to People, saying that she sustained 37 separate bites, adding:

"I had 37 separate bites when I went to the emergency room. They had to do a really comprehensive overview. I had stitches in both my arm and my leg. When he [the dog] clamped down on my bicep, he fractured it. I had a little hairline fracture on the bone, and the bruising was really intense, and it was throbbing."

The reality TV star later learned that the dog that bit her was a foster dog and that it had been left unattended. While Newport said she felt for the dog, she also emphasized that people need to know if their dog is the type that should be brought to the dog park. She explained that someone else, such as an older or much younger person, could have suffered more life-threatening injuries if attacked in the same way.
