Big Brother season 26 premiered on CBS on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Unlike previous seasons, the premiere episode was not live-streamed and was divided into two segments, with part 2 set to air on CBS on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

The new season will feature 16 houseguests, including a former undercover police officer, a crochet business owner, and a celebrity chef. Eight houseguests are already in the BB house as Julie Chen Moonves welcomed them onto the show during part 1 of the season premiere. This included Angela Murray, Tucker Des Laruriers, Kimo Apaka, Makensy Manbeck, Chelsie Baham, Joseph Rodriguez, Rubina Bernabe, and Cam Sullivan-Brown.

The premiere episode took off without a hitch for fans in Eastern Standard Time. However, the West Coast audience faced a hiccup as The Price is Right continued into the show's air time in Pacific Standard Time, causing Big Brother's premiere to be delayed. Fans of the show took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the delay. One person wrote on X:

Season 26 fans expressed anger towards Price is Right airing for more than 20 minutes during the Big Brother slot:

"I can’t with The Price is Right still airing when BB premiere was supposed to start. CBS you will be dealt with #BB26," a fan commented.
"I’m about to start tweakingggg Paramount plus you had one job to start big brother at 9 and here we are 22 minutes later with the price is right STILL on…I’m about to go to bed if it doesn’t start in 8 minutes #BB26," a person wrote.
"CBS playing The Price is Right instead of #BigBrother is straight up disrespectful #BB26," a fan commented.
"Why is CBS playing the price is right when #BB26 should be premiering for us on the west coast wtf," a tweet read.

Big Brother season 26 fans further stated:

"Really pi**ed about watching 27 minutes of The Price is Right at Night instead of #BB26 ?!," a tweet read.
"Am I going crazy or is CBS West airing Price is Right instead of #BB26 right now?!" a fan wrote.
WHERE IS BIG BROTHER- i did not heat up my food to watch the price is right #bb26," a person commented.

Who entered the house in Big Brother season 26 episode 1?

Big Brother season 26 began with host Julie Chen Moonves reminding fans that houseguests were not allowed to use any outside technology, including phones, during their time on the reality show. She added that the show used 94 cameras and 113 microphones to record the participants' time on the show.

The first contestant fans were introduced to was Rubina, a first-generation Filipina bartender. Next was Cam, who became a physical therapist after injuring his ACL while playing professional football. The third season 26 contestant who was introduced was Makensy, a construction site manager from Houston, Texas.

Joseph was up next and revealed that he worked in a video store and was from Tampa, Florida. Angela, a real estate agent from Salt Lake City, said that she had been a fan of the CBS show since season 12 and had an emotional reaction when she was asked to participate.

Kimo, a queer salesperson from Hawaii, said he was an artist, singer, and storyteller. He opened up about having a close relationship with his brother, who sadly passed away from cancer. Non-profit director Chelsie introduced herself as a "smart athlete" who was "half hood, half holy" and believed that helping troubled children find God was her purpose in life.

The last houseguest introduced was Tucker, a 30-year-old marketing and sales executive working in a protein company in New York. Hailing from Boston, the Big Brother season 26 cast member lives in Brooklyn.

Fans of the show took to social media to chime in on the delayed segment, which was initially set to air at 10 pm PT. While the segment aired as planned for East Coast fans, West Coast audience's screens showcased The Price is Right during the slot.

Big Brother season 26 will air episode 2 on Thursday, July 18, 2024, during which eight more contestants will be introduced.
