What happened in The Golden Bachelorette's latest episode?

In The Golden Bachelorette season 1 episode 5, Joan and her seven remaining suitors spent some time together before the frontrunner picked who she wanted to go to Hometown dates with. Trista Sutter, the first-ever Bachelorette, made a guest appearance, while Joan decided to only give out roses at the end of the week during the Rose Ceremony.

Keith and Joan went on a one-on-one date during which the suitor opened up about his previous marriage. He told Joan that his daughters had not spoken to his ex-wife for over 10 years because of her addiction issues. Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Mark wondered if being on the show was the right thing and confided in some of the cast members.

He recalled his late wife Dennis sitting by a hummingbird feeder to feed the birds and told the cast members that he saw a hummingbird in the mansion. He believed it was a sign from the universe that she would be okay with finding someone new.

The following day, Guy. Jordon, Jonathan, Pascal, and Chock go on a group date with The Golden Bachelorette star. The bowling session saw Chock and Joan spend some quality time together, which didn't sit well with some of the other cast members.

For Mark's one-on-one date with Joan, the latter picked the suitor up in a convertible Porsche and drove to a yacht. The frontrunner told the cameras she hoped Mark would open up because she wanted to make the right decision about who to pick for Hometowns.

The date was filled with silence until they came across board games and a scavenger hunt that helped break the ice. Mark later spoke to Joan about his wife, and while the ABC star was appreciative of the cast member's showing vulnerability, she didn't feel he was ready to be in a relationship.

Although the date went well, Joan came to the mansion later to let Mark know she didn't feel a connection with him and sent him home. During the Rose Ceremony, Pascal, Chock, Jordan, and Guy received roses, which meant Keith and Jonathan's journeys ended.

Fans of The Golden Bachelorette reacted to the Rose Ceremony online and were upset to see Jonathan go home.

The Golden Bachelorette will return to screens on October 30, 2024, with episode 6.
