Reality TV adjudicator, Judge Mathis, said he did not want a divorce despite his wife Linda pushing for the same. The couple split in July but the official divorce process has not been completed. As per the court documents, Linda alleged the reason behind their split to be ‘irreconcilable differences’.

On August 31, a video of the Judge circulated on X in which he was seen sharing his thoughts on his divorce. When asked about how he was dealing with the process, Judge Mathis said,

“We are still in the same house and we’re maintaining a friendship and I am trying to get my wife back. I have to show her that though..umm…hopefully I can show while we are there together before and hopefully she doesn’t complete the process but I am changing and hopes that she will. I am getting my wife back.”

Reportedly, he is trying to make things right to win his wife back and hopes that she changes the decision. Judge Mathis said he failed to make his wife the top priority, as a result of which his marriage is now at stake. In the video, he also said,

“I am not holding up very well. I would say to other men, maybe I will be a example for other men cautionary tale. Don’t neglect your wife.

On August 23, E News released a report which stated, Linda filed a divorce on August 22. Reportedly, she is also seeking spousal support from her husband. Judge Mathis and his wife married in June 1985. The couple has four kids.

Judge Mathis denied all rumors and said neglect could create suspicion

When asked to clear the rumors about his infidelity, the judge said neglect could create suspicion. He mentioned that if one is away serving the community around the country as much as he does, then suspicion could arise.

He added, if a person hangs out with his friends at sporting events or other events without their wife, she would have the right to suspect infidelity. He denied that in his case, the reason behind the problems is not infidelity.

“I just want to eliminate all rumors too that it’s something about a baby or even me m****ting a child. It’s none of that. I have just told you what it is.”

In 2022, Judge Mathis, during his show Mathis Family Matters, praised his wife and said Linda enabled him to work 15 hours a day, five to six days a week after he left Detroit. Her support made it possible for him to achieve success. He and Linda first met at Eastern Michigan University. They reportedly dated for four years before getting married.

The couple has two daughters, Jade, 39, and Camara, 36, and two sons, Greg Jr., 35, and Amir, 34. Judge Mathis served as a TV judge on his self-titled show for 24 years. He oversaw more than 13,000 cases until 2023. The show revived with the title Mathis Court With Judge Mathis, which premiered last fall.
