The Bachelorette season 21 concluded with the release of its finale on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Jenn walked the last part of her journey with Devin and Marcus, hoping to start a new chapter with one of them. She confessed she struggled with her final decision since she loved both of them.

The Bachelorette traveled to Hawaii to meet with her family before the engagement. She looked forward to hearing their input as they interacted with her suitors. Jenn's mother Trinh, her aunt, Lylan, her brother, James, and her best friend, Nicole, were ready to meet Jenn's prospective fiances.

Jenn's brother James was the hardest to impress. He was not easily moved by Marcus or Devin's big promises. He carefully analyzed them and did not rush into finalizing anything. He refused to give his blessings to Devin without meeting "the second guy."

Although it bothered Devin, it was out of his control. James then confronted Marcus about his emotional unavailability, doubting his ability to keep Jenn happy. The Bachelorette fans took to X to praise James for his maturity and keen understanding. They applauded him for not rushing into things with Devin or Marcus.

"oh I am OBSESSED with Jenn's brother. he hates both of these clowns its so fierce," a fan wrote.
"Plot twist: the most emotionally intelligent man of the season is Jenn’s brother," a netizen commented.
"“thank you Jenn’s brother” we all say in unison," a user tweeted.

The Bachelorette fans commended James for confronting Marcus' lack of emotional stability.

"Jenn’s brother making it crystal clear he is a Marcus hater on national tv get him again James!" a person wrote.
"Jenn's brother cutting through the bs sob stories and asking why tf Marcus is here and asking the important questions. He sees right through this loser," another person reacted.
"ABC needs to bring Jenn's brother back every season as a consultant for the final decision. He's clocking these men," one user commented.

Many netizens commented on James' conversation with Devin. They felt he should have been allowed to question him at the finale when the breakup was made public.

"They should have let Jenn's brother on stage to "talk" with Devin," a person wrote.
"Why did they give Devin so much air time at the end? I wish Jenn’s brother could have had five minutes with him in the hot seat," one netizen tweeted.
"Not Jenn’s brother withholding his blessing bc he hasn’t met the other guy," a fan commented.

The Bachelorette star Jenn's brother confessed he was "not too happy" with the outcome

Upon meeting Jenn's family, Devin confessed Jenn made him "feel seen" and "100 percent whole." Lylan thought Devin was a "nice guy," but Trinh felt Jenn needed more time before finalizing anything. Having said that neither Lylan nor Trinh were comfortable giving their blessings to Devin. They confessed it was too rash to accept someone their daughter had known for only two months.

James complimented Devin and Jenn's relationship. However, he refrained from giving him his blessing to propose. He said:

"Uh, I'm definitely not going to give the blessing now. It's not because I'm not sure about you. It's because I haven't talked to the second guy yet."

At the finale, The Bachelorette's brother looked back on his meeting with the cast member and said:

"Honestly, at the moment I'm not too happy."

Devin broke up with Jenn two months after their engagement, claiming he never had feelings for her. James was displeased with the outcome.

Marcus' meeting with Jenn's family was worse. James said he reminded him of the "emotionally unavailable men" Jenn dated in the past. Although Marcus said he wanted to go all the way with Jenn, James was unconvinced because he had not confessed his feelings to her.

During a private conversation, James urged Marcus to be more expressive of himself. However, he did not get the answers he was looking for.

"Marcus played ring-around-the-rosy a lot with my questions and that's concerning especially given that he's not there yet," James stated.

James shared his opinion with Jenn and asked her to decide carefully. When the Bachelorette thanked her brother, he was moved to tears.
